Apple to phase out iPad Mini
I read some bad news that Apple are to phase out the iPad Mini so there will be no iPad Mini 5. I was so looking forward to an iPad Mini with stereo speakers and A10 chip but it will not happen now. Damn Apple

Mini Pro will came at some moment in the future almost like iPhone SE did...
Would be misssed- been my main iPad for 3 years coupled with a 6s... but would probably be ok moving up to a giganta - iPhone eventually ( as a sort of Mini replacer) and new full size iPad as the recently released 2017 one is relatively affordable ..
That rumor has been around for a while. It would suck. Apple showed it has "courage" so I wouldn't be too surprised...
Some apps aren't compatible with iPhone (iMini, GTL, launchpad with hardware... to name a few)
This suxxxx
To clarify I do plan on buying the 10.5 pro at some point next Year after it's available refurbed, but I wanted a mini pro more than anything
Oh yeah -- that's why I'd grab that full size iPad so I can run all my Apps ..
The bigger phone would in a way just replace the size and feel of the Mini.
What I really like about the Mini is the feel of it when making it act as a 'book' .. I would miss reading novels and such on it if it were no longer
"Some time in the future". It doesn't get more vague than that. I don't think they'll kill it that soon. They'd be stupid if they did. Or courageous...
Mini4 is still pretty good
iPad Mini sales are not that great according to all stats I've seen. Also bigger iPhones, also there's alredy an iPad SE it's called iPad and it's 9.7 inches.
I feel apple never really cared about the mini, the only mini that was worth it was the mini 2, the mini 1 was underpowered. the mini 3 was a joke and the mini 4 was a year too late.
Apple cares only about ever more profit, and that means iPhones. It is such a shame that under Mr Cook, true innovation has died.
The Mini 4 is brilliant. I greatly prefer it over my Air 2 - which is virtually identical in performance in day to day use.
Yeah it's sad times when the only customers Apple care about are teenagers especially teenage girls and their iPhones so they can make lip pouting and gurning selfies on Facebook rather than care about us musicians.![:( :(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/frowning.png)
I really miss Apple of the Steve Jobs era which was exciting and full of innovation.

Yes, it's within Apple's reach, easily, to revolutionise music making and produce iPads that could make laptops redundant. But there isn't the wit or will. As you say, Cook's brave new world centres around teens.![:'( :'(](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/cry.png)
iPad mini 4 rocks! Really the perfect size for reading and doing all kinds of things. And it fits in pockets of jackets and cargo pants. Also mounts very conveniently to the side of my double bass. And the 4G version is amazing for navigation. I have it mounted in my car with velcro. Really extremely versatile and useful for situations where the larger size wouldn't make much sense.
The sales numbers might be low but by which standard? Are they selling more 12.9" Pros? Unlikely. Watches? Don't think so. But what do I know.
It's a shame, but I think if one format had to go it's the right choice. I kind of regret getting my mini 2 over an Air1 for music. I think I'll always keep my Air2 but would happily trade in the mini 2 for something else....But yes it's really useful in situations where the others are too big.
Just playing with my mini2 again today... damn this size is sooooo nice. Ahh well, i can still run Cubasis hosting Redshrike, Addictive Pro, Syndt, Future Drummer, Egoist and a half dozen audio tracks at around 80% cpu. So still a great sketchpad for now. This form factor is just so couch/bus friendly. Sigh, i really hope the reports are wrong and one day there is a mini pro.
I'm still using my mini 2, this sucks. Best mobile music device. I really hope this is not true, large iPads are to big for bus, train plane etc.
It really wouldn't make sense imho. Especially (not eXpecially!) if they want to add 10.5" now. The current sizes are much more evenly distributed: 7.9, 10, 12.9. 10, 10.5 and 12.9 isn't very logical. I sincerely hope they won't have that courage/ignorance this time around.
Actually I think there may be a better chance that they want to replace the 10" with the 10.5" model.
What about the iPhone 5 and 5c, they're both 32 bits
