BeatHawk--How are you exporting your audio to the cloud?

Let me preface this by saying that I prefer to do everything "in house" on my iPhone (I don't use an iPad), but when I do take things to my desktop, I have to play by a different set of rules because I use Linux. I can't use iTunes or similar tools.

I created something last night while exploring BeatHawk, and tried to export it. It appears that the only options for accessing exported audio are,

"in the Browser/User Library tab, and through iTunes File Transer."

and supposedly the Browser/User Library tab is supposed to have iCloud capability:

"BeatHawk supports file import and export from Apple's iCloud and iCloud-supported services such as DropBox, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive."

I understand that it can be done with options such as Audiobus/IAA, but I can't find any options for cloud-based service export. How are you guys doing it?

Thanks!!

  • First do an Export so you have the file(s) in the 'Exports'" folder.

From there you can 'Export' the files to AudioShare (iCloud - Export File, Choose AudioShare from the 'Location' menu) and after that use the WiFi drive to get the file over to your desktop.

You can also zip the folders in BH2 to ease the export process.

In the BH2 'browser' you need to do the 'two-finger tap' on a file or folder to reveal the export options such as iCloud Drive... To zip a folder two-finger tap on the folder...

  • @Samu Are you trying this on an iPad or an iPhone? I only seem to see import options on the iPhone....

It depends on the kind of object you two finger tap on. If you tap on a *.wav file in the User Library you should get the export option on the iPhone as well... If you two finger tap on a folder you only get the import but if it's two finger tap on a zip file or *.wav the iCloud Export is there.

  • @Samu Ahh!!! I see it now!! The manual doesn't mention a "two finger tap" anywhere (that I can see), and I didn't realize that it has to be done on the actual file! Thanks!!

BTW, do you know how to delete files?

  • Ah, same two finger tap! Very handy!! Thank you @Samu

Same place/menu where you found the export ;)
    Works for folders too.

  • Thank you!! Very useful!! Where did you learn this? I don't remember seeing this in the manual...

Is there a forum or something that you frequent for BeatHawk?

The manual quite clearly states two finger tap (Page 19).

I'm mostly just hanging around here at the AB forums and being a geek I dig quite deep into apps :)

  • Thanks!! I found it. I have generally not needed manuals, except for reference. Most things are generally intuitive on the iPhone. This one, however, doesn't follow convention and therefore had me stumped.

Do you, by chance know of a way to import whole libraries at a time, rather than one sound at a time?

ZIP a folder with samples in AudioShare and import the ZIP-File into BH2 using iCloud Drive and unzip it...
That's the fastest way to my knowledge.

  • Awesome!! At least there's a way!! Thanks again @Samu !!!

  • I do wish BH could share native projects a la Alihoopla (Gadget). I want to take my minor iPhone playabouts and expand them on them from the iPad. This is not a small endeavor, so maybe it's in the works.

If you have the same 'sample folders' on both devices the *.song file is one way to work around this.
(ie. export the *.song file to AudioShare and AirDrop it to your iPad).

    Ah. Hadn't tried that. thx

Regarding the export of a *.song file— it took me a second, so I thought I'd save everyone else the time: To get to them, you don't go through the Browser. Instead, go to the hamburger menu and choose "Load Project/Kit" then User Library > Projects. Double tap the song and you're off.

EDIT: By double tap, I meant to write two finger tap.
