Auria 1.12 submitted now

FYI, I've submitted 1.12 to Apple today. This fixes the issue Auria LE users are having with accessing Audiobus, as well as several other fixes.

1.12 also features a new optional plug-in: Turnado.

  • Cool! There will be a lot of people happy to see this! :-)

Was submitted a few days ago, so you can shave off a few days on Apples estimated review time. :)

  • Thanks ChrisG for say me this...

What we think about Turnado re-purchased inside Auria???
I think that if I own I must pay minor price...

I say, it's not up to the Auria developers to set the prices on 3rd party plugins. That is all up to the respective companies. Secondly, a lot of people wanted a native Auria version after the iOS version was released, and Sugar Bytes delivered (which is pretty great). The way cross-app purchases works, or rather not works, needs to be addressed by Apple. No, Retronyms and iMPC etc is not good examples on how to "bypass" all that stuff. And while we all like things to be as cheap as possible (obviously lol), 40 bucks, if you buy both versions, is still quite a lot less then 140 bucks which is the price of the pc/Mac version.

  • I think Retronyms and iMPC is a fine example of 'one way to do it'. I also think asking only 20 bucks is a blessing!

Also, for those who don't know, Auria not only lets 3rd party devs set the price for Auria plugins but they also don't take a cut of the earnings. Apple gets their standard 30% and the 3rd party devs take the full remaining 70%.

  • Hey, curious question. Rim the main Auria dev is so freaking talented and hard working, but what happens when he gets sick or wants to take a short vacation? Are we all SOL? Does anybody know who the other devs are as every time I've visited their forum, it's pretty much Rim who answers all the questions.

  • I'm a developer too. If I write code I get paid. Period.

I think Rim is the main guy over at WML working on Auria, but I do know they have a few other guys that will occasionally jump into the forums. Without a copy of their org chart it would be hard to say what happens when Rim gets sick or wants a vacation. I know things went quiet over there for along time after the most recent update before 1.2. I assumed then he was getting some rest/vacation in. All I know is I don't want to find out what happens if Rim takes off.

  • He's the CEO of Wavemachine Labs, so I don't think he'll disappear. And he's stated that he is very determined to make Auria the best DAW available on iOS, and keep it that way. Besides, I do believe it's been established that he's not human, and does not require silly human things like vacation or money. Only work.

  • Well, a new update from Rim over on their forum is going to turn this whole conversation on it's ear. Check out the thread here;

"Some news about Turnado: We decided to pull it from 1.12, and include it into 1.13 instead. The reason for this is because we changed the way it's going to be purchased. To accommodate users who already own the Turnado app, Auria will automatically detect if the app version is installed on your iPad, then enable the plugin version within Auria. The Auria store will still have Turnado available for purchase, but it will link to the App Store instead of completing the purchase within Auria.

    In other words:

    • For owners of the Turnado app: the Auria plugin version will be free, and will appear in the plugin list automatically

    • For users who don't already own the Turnado app: You'll be directed to the App Store, where you can purchase the Turnado app. Having this app present on your iPad will automatically enable the plugin version within Auria.

  • Cool. Now I can spend those 20 bucks on something I don't need. :)

  • Yeah, Rim definitely puts the "Machine" into WaveMachineLabs. The Dude is an inspiration.

That is a great gesture towards folks who have already bought the plug. Once can only hope more plugin developers follow Sugar Byte's lead.

  • Good to hear. It would be interesting if they could do the same with JamUpPro.

  • That's AWESOME!!! That means I have Turnado inside Auria for no added cost when 1.1.3 comes out!!! GREAT NEWS!!!! :-)

  • This open the door to new possibilities, the sky is the limit. Take for instance if Thor is updated with the Auria coding that would allow Thor as a plug in in Auria.
We as users could start asking Developers for this, just like how we ask for Turnado and the developers answer our call.

  • Inter app audio :)

  • Wonderful news! Thank you @sugarbytes!

  • Yes, indeed, creative and supportive solution for us all! More thanks, @sugarbytes!

  • This news is causing me to buy Turnado now instead of waiting! It also makes me 100 times more loyal to Auria as my go to DAW because of the philosophy. I hope people will see this concept Rim came up with for the great gesture that it is, and not be grumpy if he can't figure out a way to do it with other plug-ins (JamUp). This has never happened before as far as I know, so I for one say Cheers to Rim!!!

  • Wow... yes... do it for Jamup Pro also please.....

  • Awesome, I was wondering where Turnado went when I downloaded the Auria update. This is indeed good news.

Don't forget that the Turnado devs must have agreed not to charge for the plug-in if the user has the standalone app and that without their blessing this scheme could not have been implemented. Props to them, too.

  • Yes! Great news indeed! Thanks sugarbytes and rim, this is very much appreciated. If Positive grid followed that would be incredible too.

  • Agreed again! (especially since I've already purchased most everything IAP already). ;-)
