Just a thought...

I read one of John Walden's recent Music App Blog newsletters where he brought up the issue of repeated synth sounds used across any number of apps, and thoughts about dealing with such proliferation.

Having little knowledge of such matters I throw this out there with that caveat, but:

Is there a way to create an app (something like AB, maybe) that will scan & catalog waveforms in various apps and organize your access to them?

  • :o Impossible in this universe

  • Redundancy is inevitable.

I don't really need to know what others use or what I did. If I like it, I use it.

  • Cool idea though. If only from a data geek POV (which I am).

Mind you, pianos sound pretty similar yet we're happy to differentiate by how they're written for and played.

  • Not fully versed in iOS file system, especially after the recent changes, I do know, after discussions with Jonatan (Kymatica) that the file storage for an app is locked to the developer/company account of that app. This is the reason he can share files freely between his apps, most notably AUM and AudioShare, but where he can't allow access to other developers, not perhaps because he doesn't want to, but due to limitations within iOS. It isn't his permission to give.

  • Enlightening replies. I knew there was bound to be a lot more to this than I could imagine.
