Any arpeggiators that do Euclidean patterns?
Or am I just dreaming?
Would be insanely great if there was....
in IOS or Mac software?
Comments
Concentric? Maybe Patterning plus a few midi adapters and StepPolyArp in AB3?
I've got no idea past what I read on this forum though, not really an arp user.
Audulus
ZMors modular
Any experience with Audulus or ZMors modular with this sort of idea?
I was wondering which would be better - or which would have more flexible outcomes
Z Mors looks a little intimidating / nerdy - Audulus less so..
Polyrhythmus for Ableton is pretty cool - I like its simplicity, but not a Live user.. (yet)
Has anyone ever tried Loopseque? I haven't - but it looks neato and even has AudioBus... tho not updated since '15. loopseque.com
I built one. in ZMors modular. https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/18552/euclidean-melodic-sequencer-built-in-zmors-modular-downloadable-patch-now-with-video-tutorial#latest
I've liked this for a while but portrait only which really kills the flow for me.
Concentric rocks.
There are other free desktop euclidean sequencers but you either have to own and use Live with M4L or own NI Reaktor. Also, Euclidean Beats drum sequencer from Imogen Heap Box of Tricks looks very nice but you have to pay $180 for the whole collection
I'm starting to think I'm gonna have to develop one myself![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
If anyone is curious I actually built a seriously more complicated version of my zmors sequencer in ableton using reaktor and xfer Cthulhu.... It can pretty much make a bassline and a Melody from a single 4note chord progression.
I'm very interested - I use both Reaktor and Cthulhu !
I presume it will work in any DAW like Reaper?
I bought Zmors just because of your amazing programming!!!
How do I find this Reaktor and Cthulhu marriage?
I'm surprised there is not huge interest in euclidean arpeggiation?
Why is there not really amazing timings and swing settings on arpeggiators?
Arps have been around for nearly 50 years! and almost no rhythmic evolution?
Its just...4/8/16 maybe triplets if you are lucky ....(yawn..)
Euclidean is voodoo timing
!!
Basic gist is. I feed a chord progression Into 4 cthulhus. Each ctulhu playing only 1,2,3 and 4 respectively. (Separating the notes of the chords). Then each note gets fed into a duo of euclidean sequencers. So there's 8 separate sequencers. Each one mapped to 3 knobs and a fader on the launch control Xl. So you can literally play with sequences with hardware controls. It's awesome for jamming live with ableton link. Need to change key ? Feed it a different chord progression.

Potato quality video. Everything you hear except for the drums is from the singular chord progression you see on the screen.
Don't own reaper so you'll have to do the routing yourself. I could help you figure it out if you like. Does reaper have a demo I could mess with ?
I thought that was illegal, except in some Southern States.![:p :p](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/tongue.png)
Reaper has a thirty days trial time then it's up to you to pay. It will work anyway with any restrictions
I'm very interested, please tell!
The Euclidean algorithm is actually quite simple.
It wouldn't be hard to knock up a custom seq/arp in something like Audulus.
Z Mors Modular
Thank you
Audulus doesn't have MIDI out but I know they are working on it
@gonecrazy3000 - Awesome vid!
I'm going to get Live in the next few weeks so I'll come back to you on this - there are too may great AL plugs that I am missing out on.
I'm doing a very basic version with Reaktor and Cthulhu - but its cumbersome compared to your great setup.
How are you getting the 4 cthulhu's to play each chord on the next beat?
does each channel of cthulhu have a midi delay set by various beat measures?
Also with your setup - is there a way to get a master clock swing going to affect all of the Euclidean generators?
This is something I'm stuck on - I would love to swing everything together - or even each Euclidean module separately
I Googled. How does a Euclidean arpeggiator work?
There are a few Euclidean sequencers, for sure. http://sequence.nyquistresearch.com/
Translation of the algorithm from the paper that got everyone excited.
(Note: Where 'mod' means the remainder of
m ÷ k
. In the example below, that's 3 the first time around.)Running this algorithm with
m = 8
andk = 5
we obtain:If you're willing to preset the changes (do the math up front), any sequencer with variable track lengths and pattern chaining will do. Patterning and midiSteps come to mind. midiSteps will allow for sequence transposition based on input so you might be able to cook up something that at least smells like an arpeggiator.
That is a cool euclidean pattern generator - love that it triggers samples!
I want to play an arpeggiator from my keyboard so it steps up or down in octaves, has a random button etc (like any ol arp does)
So i can improvise with chords, single notes octaves, pitch bending - whilst the arpeggiators timing is euclidean.
(with swing settings! - or at least being able to nudge certain accents to be pushing or pulling the timing)
More for melodic ideas than rhythmic (beats).
It would be such great fun to come up with melodic lines, bass lines, percussive rhythmic chords - and record the midi for later tweeking...
...anyway - onwards with my "arpegidean" dreaming![:| :|](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/neutral.png)
I can't program code at all - total dummy
Don't forget there's this thread on euclidean sequencers (as opposed to arpeggiators).
Probably worth considering Rhythm Necklace - Geometric Sequencer by Sam Tarakajian
