Reslice As Drum Kit Sampler?
Is there a way to have Reslice play as a regular drum kit if I import Drum Samples?
Comments
Sure, just turn off the arps and set your choke groups. Boom. Done.
As long as you turn off the arp, I don't see why not. Especially now that it has 3 choke groups.
Could you do a video showing simple steps for all non drummers folks like me? Explaining what choke groups are and why they are needed. You know stuff like for Guitar players like me that know nada about drums

Thanking you in advance
A choke group is basically a group of monophonic sounds / samples. Instead of making the whole instrument monophonic, you select which samples / slices you want to be in the mono "choke" group. A good example of usage is an open / closed high hat relationship. Hit the open high hat sample once and it sustains out. Hit it again but then hit a closed high hat sample right after and that will prevent it from sustaining, effectively "choking" it. There are many other uses for choke groups, but that is a pretty standard example you'll find with drum kits and samplers.
Wait, lets clarify. When you say "import Drum Samples", I hope you don't mean importing a bunch of individual hits. That won't work. You can import a single file that contains multiple hits, slice it up, and then use the keys to play each slice.
You can import, say a breakbeat loop, chop it up, and then play each hit. You can also string together some individual hits into a single file (either using an audio editor like twisted wave, or by recording a file of you playing those hits.
One thing you can't do, that I wish you could, is select which notes play which slices. I'd like to be able to map to GM midi mapping or something that could be consistent between kits. With ReSlice, the keys are always going to be in the order of the slices.
Basically, just import your file. Adjust the slice points, and play. It's pretty easy. Finding or making the right file to import can be more challenging.
Actually. You can import individual hits. Save each as a present. And open multiple instances of reslice as an AUx. Voila. Multi out drums. I just use a separate channel per layer on Aum with modstep driving it.
That's overkill.
Just resample whatever drum app you have into Reslice as a single wav containing all the hits. OP-1 style.
It's not overkill if you want multi-outs, though. Unless............can ReSlice send each slice to a different output?? That would be remarkable.
yup. if you want to effect each drum seperately using stuff like diego stocco's rhythmic convolution Ir's you need multi outs to do some remarkable things. and no reslice cannot send to different outputs. if it could i would abuse it a ton lol.
here's are examples of diegos rhytmic convolution impulses:-![](https://img.youtube.com/vi/ABMBcstWZqU/0.jpg)

they work surprisingly well in Auria Pro. i do a ton of bussing to do even more rhythmic variations.
Ahh yes, I recall seeing his convolution explorations in the past. Amazing stuff! And I agree....a multi-out option on a per slice basis in ReSlice would be an amazingly beneficial feature for an already awesome app.
I've already imported all his impulses sorted into folders in both my desktop ableton and Auria Pro on my Ipad. it helps a ton when you're stuck with stale beats or melodies![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Does he sell them? Worth the cost of entry?
yes. its a total of around 400 impulses. with around 20 that he released for free.
i love them. Can create some really nice sounds. the 2nd volume is a bit easier to mangle sounds with.
but the first along with some extra effects plugins can create remarkable results as well.
If you own Ableton his colorbots effect chain is also amazing. learned so much stuff about routing audio and effects just by tearing it apart and making my own effect chain from it.
I'd suggest grabbing atleast Rhythmic Convolutions volume 2 and seeing what it can do.
all his products can be bought here:- https://gumroad.com/diegostocco
Amazing stuff!![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Thanks everyone for the ideas and support.
I like the idea of separate drum audio channels in AUM for adding reverb or delays on each.
So they're on the same midi channel?
Now sure I follow. How do you use them in Auria Pro?
@MusicMan4Christ See if this helps. You can easily get GM if you set up the audio file with samples in the order that GM follows. Minus the B0 acoustic drum. Reslice seems to start on C1 with its slices.
pretty much an instance of reslice with the single sample per layer. i just draw patterns with only C1 triggering the sample. add convolution reverbs or other effects to taste. or. send multiple layers to a mix bus. and apply convolution reverbs there. or use the convolutions as sends. pretty much the same way diego does in ableton. except in auria pro.
Cool, I see, thanks. Is the convolution reverb a FAB filter or an AU or IAA or built in to Auria Pro?
built in Auria pro convolution reverb. i forget what its called. i just used ifunbox to dump diego's impulses in there.
i'll see if i can make a quick video showcasing it when i'm free.
Huh, cool cool, I will reinstall AP to try this. I always misjudged convolution reverbs more as super anal 'recreate this space' than as creative manglers. Nice to learn! Thanks again!
anything can be abused to do stuff it was never meant to do. that's the main reason i love Diego's work. he opened the door to an entire new universe of sounds![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
Any recommendations on convuluted reverb on iOS? Any chance I can achieve something similar with cusasis? This is very cool.
Tru dat.
I can do this with the sends in Cubasis. But is there any decent convolution reverbs for iOS?
pretty much the only one that lets you use multiple instances is the one included in Auria Pro. and to really do rhythmic convolutions you need multiple sends with different impulses.
AltiSpace, iConvolver and Mobile Convolution. None of these can be used in multiple instances as @gonekrazy3000 was describing, but they have the ability to load custom IR files. AltiSpace is my favorite among the 3. I prefer its file browsing system and EQ implementation. But all 3 get the job done.
Cool, looks like Samplitude on the pc has a pretty good one built in. Funny i have an old project saved where i was messing with this. Must have got distracted by damn 'life'.![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
@gonekrazy3000 assuming you've seen this?
Looks / sounds amazing. Unfortunately it doesn't appear you can load your own samples....and for $300 I damn well better be able to load anything I want into it!
Spitfire makes some amazing toys. but as you mentioned they are murder on your wallet
a friend of mine has metropolis ark volumes 1 and 2 and my god they are glorious. extremely out of my price range though... only way i could use these is if i raised the jolly roger and "found" their stuff. I pretty much am making sure i am legit at this point in my life. wasn't the same back in my teens but then again everyone does things they should not in those years......
