Soundscaper/Fieldscaper on Sale
These guys are half off, $4.99 down from $9.99. I have them both, but they are two of the most non-intuititive apps I own, which is frustrating, because I really want to like them. I also have Borderlands, which is categorically similar and friendly (though I haven't figured out how to automate yet). Also, iPulsaret is like these, but easier to grok.
THAT SAID....uh, I haven't actually read the damn manual. But just looking at the banks of options Sound- and Field- present, I am frustrated that I haven't been able to wing it on either of these.
Any -Scaper power users?

I own both and need to dive in deep. I have figured a few things out on both. You are right about not being intuitive. Spending some time with each helps. Using a simple audio file helps you understand what's going on sometimes.
I'm like you, love 'em, but a bit baffled.
I'd recommend them to anyone that doesn't have them though.
Soundscaper I became a master of. Probably my most used app that's not traditionally 'musical'. I never got on with Fieldscaper; something about the layout turned me off from getting into it.
I feel like Borderlands is a (very nice, worth owning) one-trick pony. And I'm surprised you'd say iPulsaret is easier than the scapers. I never got along with that one either.
Soundscaper is incredible though. The most important part for learning and producing things with it was loading my own samples and hearing the changes I made to them. Sure, the random button is a lot of fun, but it's better to leave the circuit bending off and learn how the automated lfos/filter/delays work before mangling the sounds. Start with two samples instead of three. I've gotten incredible beats/rhythms out of sources I'd never have thought had it in them.
So interesting. Soundscaper, to me, is like the graduate level seminar of Fieldscaper. I don't even know how to get a sample into Soundscaper.
Thanks God there is a randomizer
Fieldscaper is badass for psychedelic vocal gibberish. If you do psychedelic music at all it's crucial
Psychedelic vocal gibberish?
Love them both! The kind of apps that I can sit and just play with not knowing the destination. Evidently, Igor has something in the works coming soon-ish. Per himself on the iPad music Facebook group.
Lol
Igor has a new app on the way!!!!!!!!!!!
When???
What??
I think he said he'll reveal more in a couple of days,
Love both of them and I've put some time into both. Tough learning curve but worth the time if you are into super experimental stuff. I've been messing about with FieldScaper lately and getting really messed up fantastic junk out of it. Highly recommended.
I only understand half of what goes on in Soundscaper. All I need to know is what controls what regarding space, position, etc. Everything else (like the circuit bending section) I could care less understanding what I'm doing. I don't want to know. I just wanna experiment with sounds, record them, and then process/mangle the recordings in Auria.
I need to experiment with Fieldscaper, lol, but I'm tinkering away at the June Covers Club I'll be eventually uploading to Soundcloud in a week or two.
Fieldscaper seems the most musically useful to me looking at the youtube vids so I might pick that up. Soundscaper seems to be too complicated, it looks like one of those apps that only the dev really understands. But then again I could get both in the bundle for more discount. Hmmm
I decided to get both for $8. Bundles!
You won't regret it! I already own them (but currently can only use Fieldscaper since it is the only one that supports the iphone). Great sound generators!!
