Agreed. My daughter had lots of fun with Beatwave, and created some cool sounding songs. It's sort of rare to see an app this polished, that seemed to have a vision of sorts, just vanish into the digital ether. I'm guessing the rise of Auxy didn't help.
Was there any update on this?

I'm telling you guys. It's been deprioritized. The dev has moved on to other businesses. I wish he'd update it but it doesn't sound like he's putting any time nor energy into music making apps.
Few weeks back I purchased all Beatwave's IAP and this PRO2 extra. No harm done, but I would have preferred to spend the money on developer that's moving into the ecosystem with something new and not one that is seemingly bailing out.
Btw. I haven't tested it myself, but if I remember correctly, there is an option of creating your own instruments. Is that so?
If someone wants to, it's easy enough to contact the developer. He has twitter and Facebook account in relation to his new project. And a recent photo might I add.
@kobamoto It IS too bad. Lot of things to be done with this within its own little framework. I was optimistic, as ever, about where he might take it, but lost hope etc quite some time ago. Do wonder (like the Amidio stuff) if someone else might buy/take up the baton etc.
Contrarily -of course- I also find it interesting now knowing/presuming it's stuck in amber that I find it quite freeing. No longer whining to myself about what should be done, but instead just opening it every so often and being released to simply make what I can within its limits....
this feeling is exactly what leads me back to so many soon-to-be-exiled apps, (iSequence! Electrify NXT etc etc) and come to think of it, is what im looking for in all the soft ive accumulated...the fussiness im so prone to about software and features and updates gives me that old hungry ghost feeling and doesnt lead to much music making
Exactement mon frere....
I didn't get a bounce back from the email, but I've received no reply at all. It's too bad that it seems to be abandoned as it was a popular app, easy to use, and I really like some of the sounds...especially the Jazz pack.
As long as we are not talking about samplr I fully concur with you guys..... I'm in the same mode with beatwave now
My son found a bug in the Beatwave program - if you create a new drum kit, then use the "record" feature multiple times, it all works fine. If you close the recording and/or start a new song with the same drum kit, only one recording will play (although all are marked as "recording"), having a look at the .BWM file that contains the markup for the drum instrument, it seems to show only "recording1.wav" as the source for all microphone recorded sounds, so it's not incrementing the counter that saves the recording file.
Cheers

One sometimes thinks about commitment and ethics. Like in this case of Beatwave. The creator selling the app and IAP at full price, knowing long time ago that he had no intentions of maintaining the app and already in different business and kind of "hiding" from normal requests and questions. No warning. This hurts newcomers, both developers and users. Users get careful with "investments" and perhaps don't buy from new parties in the App Store, hurting cash flow for them. As much as I'm against bureaucracy and complications, Apple could in the future make minimal support demands on developers, at least notification when normal support .s.a. obvious bugs and iOS demands from Apple itself will be dealt with. Easy enough to withhold payments if that's the case. Perhaps not popular with developers but could be good policy in the long run, especially for those who are actually going to keep up their end of the deal (not features etc. only keeping the app usable and notice when that will stop).
Just a thought!
Difficult one....
Well look at that.
Holy moly. Never thought I’d see the day. Looking forward to seeing what’s new
I hope that the randomization engine is the same or better. Even in its current form it's great for exploring compositions and keys without the painful overhead of a daw.
I had been keeping it on the device but now I’ve loaded up all the packs and upgrade bundle.
Very capable
Would be happy to see this given a wash and brush up. Haven't been able to export/open in for a while so kind of gave up, but have all the instruments and it's an easy/good writer. Would be excited if export midi was also possible....
Hooray (hope that bug is fixed!)!!
I was just looking at it yesterday, trying to get to their website (which is still down ...).
“Open in” does still work, for sending recordings of performances, at least. Given that it’s me timing the stop on the fly, some trimming in AudioShare was required for exact loops.
Not here unfortunately....just hangs.....BUT looking forward to the update unless it's to be sold as an entirely new version....
Sorry about the hang.
I’d wondered about that “unless” also...
Tried searching for their page, found an Android app that seems pretty much like a ripoff to me
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thsoft.beatwave&hl=en_US
Hope the update comes with midi-out
What a great app just downloaded it now nice to see something that just works without having to spend hours learning. Hope it doesn’t change too much!
Ohhh man, I got seriously addicted to this app for a while - I loved the simplicity and limitations of it!! I’m excited to see V3...
Yeah, I tried that out once. For any Android users: AVOID AVOID AVOID!! It looks the same, but is horrendously buggy, has a horrible UI, and generally makes a mockery of a beautiful app.
Interesting. I had left this one behind, but I probably sank at least $10 into IAP's because, at one point, I enjoyed some of the generative stuff it did and making some simple loops to mangle elsewhere. Thanks for the blast from the past...
That is great news!
It's a very fun little app, and I really like it's generative abilities.
MIDI out would be a wonderful thing in the update. Here's hoping...
