  • Was literally just reading this, exciting news. Does anyone know about the webrtc additions? Much related to audio there.

  • The iCloud family music integration will also be welcome - what a pain it was when I discovered that the cloud music service wasn't shared on family purchases.

  • Handy, as someone who doesn't own a Mac this could push me into inflicting myself onto the rest of the world.

    Produce more, consume less ...

  • That is going to really great, very excited about this

  • so we can all upload screen recordings of crazy shit now?!???!!!! oh man. get ready folks.

  • Screen recording, a Files app, floating windows....Apple really is going all out in making the iPad Pro 2 (both 10.5" and 12.9"). What next, these iPads can run full-sized Mac apps? Regardless, this is shaping up to be an incredible experience!

It's a matter of time that the apps will be universal and run special version related to hardware under (desktop/iPad) and obviously it was happening before Apple drops next hardware (first the hardware ready, later the OS, finally new hardware with full capabiities instead Microsoft proposal of allinone like surface)

So wait a bit more (maybe iOS 12?) and we will see.

  • But will these screen recordings include some trace of @jakoB_haQ wiping his screen? Wouldn’t be a haQ attaQ without those…

  • Screen recording on the device? Because recording into Quicktime via the Lightning cable was already working really nicely.

well doing some refinements to website and graphics and I will try sir, thank you

  • I do feel we're get more 'goddies' leaking out during the week when it comes to features...
And it's still in beta so most likely anything will improve :)

Many apps may need updating to take advantage of drag'n'drop :)

  • I must admit to being seriously surprised that Apple appear to have woken up, and responded to user demand. All without requiring us to buy an iPhone.

Liking your laid back approach. Hopefully, that file manager will be able to see files other than those made by Apple software. ;)

Just as a general iOS11 query, how is the development beta coming along in terms of show-stopping/annoying bugs? I'd quite like to put it on my device but don't know if it's going to screw up Audiobus stuff, etc.

There's no public beta yet, right? How do I get on the dev beta if it's going well?

EDIT: Found out that the public beta launched yesterday! Coooool. So now it's just a question of the bugs above.

I am on beta 2, update 1, and there does appear to be some AudioBus issues on my 12.9 Pro. I have not done extensive testing but I would be cautious right now, to be honest.

  • I installed the beta for awhile yesterday, but a lot of apps aren't working or crashing for me. Apple News, all my digital magazines, Model15, etc. Reverted a couple hours later, I'll give it a go again after a few more betas come out. I was curious about a lot of the new features like Files, but almost none of the apps I use a lot are ready for that yet so it wouldn't be something I could use anyway I discovered.

Issues with Audiobus, Auria, Model 15 on iOS beta at this time; do not update.

  • Story of my life, mate. Accepted a long time ago.

  • In that case, I had better wait a further couple of beta versions!

Accept process as part of failure.

Couple of weeks ago Doug Woods asked what I thought about finally being able to do screen-recording on iOS. And so I'll post my answer here too.

I've actually tested screen recording using QuickTime and my girlfriends MacBook. And that worked out pretty nicely. Was quite surprised that I could get full HD resolution in 60fps that way. I used that footage for the Gadget iOS vs Gadget MacOS video.

However, the iOS screen recording doesn't interest me that much.

For me it's important that my viewers can see me interact with the surface and apps because that's how we do stuff. It gives the viewer a sense of how easy/hard it is to operate the app etc.

I simply want to keep the human element in my content.

But there is one occasion where it would be nice to be able to do screen recording.

    Oscilloscope!

When experimenting with sound, it would be nice not having to point a camera towards a second iPad running the Oscilloscope.

I'll most definitely be testing that.

  • Let's hope either Apple will add a feature that shows finger presses or allows other devs to create their own recording apps with addition features.
