@TrueYorky put up some audio examples of some of the preset kits ASAP! (Or anyone else lol)
@ChrisG tempted ;-)
Yea looks good. I just noticed the manual on their website contains a lot more info on it, nr of waveforms available etc. I asked the dev if they've got some audio demos, so I'm gonna (try) and hold of a bit.
Manual : http://twisted-electrons.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Stix-User-Manual.pdf
This looks like a remake of his other apps SidPad and Studio 1111. It even has the same preset names of SidPad,
I agree - nice MIDI control but I do like Seakbeats.
Yes, Seekbeats is a good choice, and my drum machine of choice is S4 Rhythm Composer Pro.
Ok @mgmg4871....what's your cut on all these apps you've managed to talk me into buying? ;-). Just got S4, so that should round out my collection, freeing me from having to ever purchase another music app....yeah, right!
Lol. How do you like S4? Good luck with not purchasing another app.
Liking it so far. Some of the controls seem a bit small, but not terribly bad. Still exploring it though.
I'll need more than luck to stop buying. Financial ruin would probably be the only thing that could cure me ;-)
This is quite good but I'm not seeing a swing option so until someone can point it out I'm not
Pressing the buy button.
@mgmg4871 and @fununkie27 S4 rocks love the live performance controls just needs midi clock sync.
@funjunkie27 Slap some audio demos on here. Just some random stuff using the preset kits. I just wanna get a feel for what it can sound like.
Edit: Sry forgot to say please
@ChrisG - sure, but I can't until later today. I spend much of my days with this thing called "work", which mainly serves to allow me to buy more apps ;-)
Lol yep, I stretch it out having a strict diet consisting of noodles and...noodles. Maybe treat myself with some pasta sometimes. Anyway thanks sounds good
Doug...get a promo and post.
Devs,I'm only gonna say this once.
We won't buy if Doug ain't promo'd:)
+1 for promo code.
Hey Doug (or anyone else), if you get your hands on this one, besides showing presets kits, it says sampling synthesis in the description, if possible it would be great to sort out that bit. What is what. CRUD, from the same dev, was a rompler, not a synth (the dev contacted me about it and sorted it all out tho, seemed like a really cool guy/dev).
I love SeekBeats, it is hands down the best synth drum machine (and actually capable of alot more then drum sounds) on the AppStore, iElectribe included. But I'm saying that without having tried this one, which looks good but I have no idea how it sounds without the dev having out up any audio demos.
Here's a demo that I found...
http://www.synthtopia.com/content/2013/09/04/new-ipad-drum-machine-s4-rhythm-composer-pro/
Wrong one. That's the S4 sample based drum machine. (By the way, there's a free non "pro" version of that one that does have most things like stutter, looping and all that to try out, no sample import and one or two kits tho).
Edit: Oh you and mgmgm was talking about that one all the time, not Stix.
I think the demo being discussed is for the Stix app.
I wondered if we were all talking the same thing here. I don't have Stix, so I can't help on that.
Hi All,
I'll be posting an audio/video demo of STIX within the next few days and yes, I sent Doug a promo code!
@mgmg4871 correct it's an exact replica of all my other apps, just changes the graphics a little bit
Thanks for response.
I think Doug will like this one (since he loved CRUD), especially if pairing it up with CRUD. I had a go at it, and I like it. I've only gone through a bunch of the presets and tweaked a few things here and there. And this is a drum machine that kinda goes hand in hand with CRUD with it's dirty and raw sounds. As good as CRUD sounded, I was certainly a bit disappointed about the sampling/rompler bit. But this is definitely properly advertised as a mix between a sampling and synthesis drum machine. So I'd say, if you're looking for a drum machine with some raw, dirty, crunchy sounds (also capable of some chip-tune stuff), this is a good choice.
Just before closing it, I noticed you can draw your own waveforms. Don't know how well that works yet, but if properly done it'll likely add alot of fun and weird noises to the mix. I'm not gonna compare it to the other synth/sample based drum machines available on the AppStore, other then to say that Stix certainly has its own unique character to the sounds, which you may or may not like. So anyway, thumbs up from me so far.

Feature requests & bug fixing:
Ability to save patterns/songs
Waveform browser window
Saving a new kit replaces the factory preset, unless you copy and paste it into the user area, which is still really dodgy. Definitely needs fixing here.
Make it universal if possible. I'd love to have this available on the iPhone.
Here is an audio demo of STIX by Twisted-Electrons...
No probs, it's their work though not mine. I would say the sounds are in line with the posting by @ChrisG
I really like the sound and the clean UI.BUT why is there no play/ stop panel in Audiobus???
No time to implement this ESSENTIAL for a drum- machine?
Please update before working on another app!
It is in need of polish and an update or two. And definitely deserves it, it is a really nice drum machine if you want that lo-fi raw sound.
One bug that needs attention ASAP (hope you're reading Twisted Electrons:) is that when you load a factory preset kit and start building your own, it is really wonky/dodgy when trying to get your new kit saved without either loosing it or overwriting the factory preset. When a user press the save button, have a popup window with name input and save it to the user area, also have a overwrite popup if you happen to save with the same name.
