The responce for this has been nothing short of epic, I asked Martin if it was if I sent a track in and he said yeah that would be cool, so I composed a track track just for this project and sent it to Candy the other day, it's very very different from my normal stuff so that should be fun to listen too

What fun is a party for Doug if the man himself doesn't make an appearance? Epic! :+1:

  • It occurs to me - and hopefully the peeps putting this project together - that the major press might find it interesting enough to publicise?

Good thought. Indie press, perhaps. I recently got published in an online indie music magazine. I'll ask my contact if she'd be interested ... see what happens.

I think we can reliably count on John at MusicAppBlog and Tim at Discchord, and maybe a few other iOS-focused bloggers.

Great stuff. Also, I'm thinking people like the BBC's Click program, who are always looking for quirky stories. This one hits so many targets, it may be worth dropping them a copy of the album with a sheet of A4 explaining why it is different from every other compilation.

Just sent one using the We Transfer thing.

The stuff I do usually turns out as either disturbing, ambient dronescapes, or disturbing, rhythmical madness. The one I just sent falls into the second category. I won't be offended if it's not used.

The track I have sent is very different from the prog stuff me and Colin do, it's kind of an Ambient Synthy Chill Type Thingy, not too long though around four minutes or so, very relaxing and dreamy but still catchy

Sounds like any number of girls I knew, back in the 70's. :)

Just in case you are not on Facebook or aware of this, Candy Lozier and Martin Neuhold are putting together a compilation album of tracks from any musicians who wish to contribute (iOS or non-iOS), The proceeds of which will be sent to Doug Woods. It is a great chance to get your music heard by lots of people and also to help Doug. Here is the post from Candy Lozier:

A CALL OUT TO ALL MUSICAL FRIENDS!! AND SUPPORTERS!
Martin Neuhold and I are again working to help out a fellow artist! We are hoping you will join us in this benefit project! What we need from you, our musical friends, is your music, first of all. Then your help in getting out the word about the benefit! We thank you in advance for both.

    Going put something together

'Headache Music' as Mrs Monzo calls it.

The track I submitted is a 3 minute pop/rock tune done in Gadget and Auria.

The sheer variety should be a great showcase for what can be done via IOS, and more interesting because we are all doing different stuff.

I already said what type of track we submitted, but neglected to say it was made mostly in Blocs Wave, plus vocals and sonic embellishments, then mastered in Auria Pro using Fab Filters and MicroWarmer.

  • Rock and roll. I don't know how to anything else.

  • Ambient chill made with iWavestation.

  • I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who is contributing a track and also everyone who has helped me out over the last few weeks too, we are now able to go and see my Dad next week in Liverpool for a few days and we would not have been able to do that, he is 93 and not very well so it will probably be the last time I see him, so thank you all for that.

Will look forward to that, as everything I've tried with the app has been awful. My fault.

  • Hi guys,
Look at careers. The third could fit Doug description I hope.

    Best wishes,

Ted Nugent and Deep Purple are a bit out of my range in so many ways. If my song gets on the record, I hope to not disappoint.

    DA-DA-DA, DUH DUH, DA-DA.

"We all came out to Montreux
    On the Lake Geneva shoreline."

I wonder just how much money Blackmore has made from the one tune? Easiest bass line in rock, and probably the best known riff. Still sounds titanic.

  • @Zen210507 and @thesoundtestroom -- the track I submitted is a "Baroque Rock" Instrumental piece (if that's such a thing). I created it a while back and the cool part is that it was originally inspired by a Doug demo. Seems I've got the full circle thing going on here, which feels really nice.

  • I finished the track today but can´t upload it yet.....too long...too much traffic on my slow net. I will try it in the next few days. It´s a 15 minutes trip trough different moods and scenes of an imaginary movie.
Kind of storytelling thing with lots of changes from emotional over dreamy and melancholic to a bit dramatic and epic with acoustic and electronic elements.
So we all know good and bad times in life. Music is life. Music is a language. Music can help. Let the music talk...... ;)

Zen, I really hope you like it. It was like that for me in the beginning too with this Korg APP as everything sounded the same. Then I started noodling around with it and the soundsI have made since have blown my mind. It is now my favourite Synth and DAW and that's saying a lot since I have most all of them. Keep tinkering with Korg iWavestation, don't give up! I almost did but kept on with it. Best of luck!
