Beta testers wanted! Remixlive 3.0 with finger drumming

Hi!

Just a few words to announce that the beta for Remixlive 3.0 is now open.

We added an extra grid for finger drumming plus the possibility to record patterns, a full-screen waveform view (zoom waveform) and redesigned the UI here and there.

Any feedback is welcome if everyone fancy testing it over the weekend :)

To enter the beta, you just have to register on this page. We will then add you to TestFlight within a few hours.

We are available at any time if you'd like to report a problem, share some suggestions or just say hi. Just contact us at [email protected].

Cheers,
The Mixvibes team

  • Loved the idea of this being competition for Launchpad, when it first came out. Healthy competition is no bad thing. But gave up when State Saving under AudioBus was never implemented. If I don't have that, then returning to an idea is too fiddly and time consuming. :'(

  • Let's hope in version 3 they implement better sample import instead of iTunes

Yes. I mean, I had a lot of goodwill toward this app, and liked some of what was done. Novation, for example, will not implement reverse for samples. Remix did this early. But developing 'finger drumming grids' over stuff that would be immensely useful, keeps my interest low.

  • Any chance of multitrack output/Export?

  • Congrats on getting to beta. Video is looking good!

  • yep these Guys have always been quiet but busy... the first to implement realtime time stretching, reverse, drag n drop etc... looks like they are keeping up the good work

  • Hey all,

Thanks for your feedback so far! If you haven't yet signed up for the beta don't hesitate to do so. To answer each one of you:

@Zen210507 : the state-saving feature has been requested on here but the demand to development time ratio is still not in our favor, meaning that it would take us a lot of effort for something that only a few of you are really demanding (albeit fervently). I'm not saying it'd never happen but as of right now it is not a priority, unless more people start requesting it.

@djjuniirpops @RajahP : as far as I know neither of these features are on our list at the moment. Kind of the same answer as above, if more people request it we'll be happy to consider it! Multitrack output/export seems like a longshot though, not because of technical feasibility but mostly because multitrack out would take up a massive amount of storage space and I'm not sure would be doable on iOS unless you have a very large capacity device.

    Cheers,
    Alex @Mixvibes

  • Okay, point taken. But I can't help but think that for every one person who asks for State Saving, there are many more who see the app hasn't got it, and move on.

  • Would be great if you could implement some pro features like AB3 and state saving, midi controller support, multi out for audiobus and sample import for dropbox, audioshare etc.

    Thanks for listening ;)

    +1

  • I use linux on the desktop, and my iPhone as my music device. iTunes doesn't exist in my realm. I basically stopped using the app, because I can't import my own sounds. iTunes isn't an option. BTW, I have purchased every IAP you have, and yet still can't really use it....

Sample import should of been a priority in this version. How hard would that be to add.

  • Hey all,

@Audiojunkie @slaq @djjuniirpops The sample import features are one of our priorities. It will be the focus of a future version in the coming months.

As far as the other features go, we'll take a look at state saving when we concentrate on fleshing out the features that are made possible by our integration of Audiobus into the Remixlive app.

Always happy to hear your feedback on here. If you have any other questions or feature requests you think we may have missed don't hesitate to make them known here!

    Cheers!

    Agreed completely!

In the meantime, it's pretty much a useless app for me. I don't know why you think the "demand to development ratio" didn't put this as a high priority. This particular issue is the main thing everyone talks about this app needing. I'm not trying to be hard, but I don't think you have been informed correctly, and I feel that it is important to stress this particular issue to you.

  • Hi @Audiojunkie.

No worries, and thank you for voicing your concern, that's exactly what we expect from user feedback. It's just that the development time has been evaluated before and implementing state saving seemed to be quite demanding at the time. That said, we are going to reevaluate all main Audiobus-related features soon and the situation could change.

We agree it's demanded, but adding more import options is much more important in our opinion. But don't worry, we will get there, step by step :)

    Louis @Mixvibes

  • @Mixvibes I didn't request state saving. Please re-read. I use Linux. I don't have access to iTunes. Many, many, many of us have requested and can't understand why you didn't prioritize sample import options. I'll repeat to be clear: Sample Import Options. iTunes is not a solution.

My bad @Audiojunkie! I personally think that using iTunes is far from being the ideal situation: I really struggled to import the sounds for our last video so it's fair to say I know how painful it can be. I am strongly promoting the idea of adding new options and I'm confident we will make it happen quickly after 3.0.

    Cheers,
    Louis @Mixvibes

  • Thank you for responding @Mixvibes . I'll be watching for those updates so that I can start being able to use the app.

  • You are welcome @Audiojunkie, we look forward to getting it done.

Sample import , I have been asking for this since the app came out, this feature is to important for iOS musicians. Needs to be implemented ASAP
Document Picker is the best solution

  • Rest assured it will be implemented @djjuniorpops.

    Cheers,
    Louis @Mixvibes

  • I'm still waiting foe midi learn to be implemented for both remixlive and crossdj. Till then both are left completely unused :/

  • edited June 2017

Just dropped back in here, as topic came up the list again. It's always good to have a friendly exchange with developers, good for customers and those hoping to sell something. But what's got my goat here is that the two most requested features from members of this forum, State Saving and Sample Import, are respectively considered not important and so not even on the to do list, or recognised as a desirable feature yet not implemented by version 3.

Surely, you see the irony of asking people here to help you develop and test features that they don't actually want, while not providing those we do! Perhaps the majority user base who apparently aren't keen on state saving or sample import would be better testers?

Hi @gonekrazy3000, count on me to push MIDI learn internally when we will start working on a MIDI-focused update. It definitely makes more sense, especially for Remixlive as you don't have to deal with jog wheels (which can be troublesome to handle with MIDI learn).

@Zen210507 I see your point. We really enjoy interacting here and it also means taking the blame sometimes, so we plead guilty on all charges for not implementing import sooner. That said, we are already working on a 3.1 version that will be focused mostly on those features. Also, iOS 11 will offer more options and we are looking into them at the moment to build something that we believe will be really solid.

    Cheers,
    Louis @Mixvibes

Louis, my suggestion was State Saving. Very useful to IOS musicians, and essential for your app if you are at all interested in this market. I understand that your target customers may not give two hoots about the feature, which is fair enough. But you surely have a reason for interacting here, beyond being a good fellow.

Your main competitor does include State Saving under AudioBus. They have 7,000,000 downloads, and counting. They've also built a loyal fan base among musicians, who not only help develop new products via beta testing, but also spread the word on forums.

I just thought about import first because djjuniirpops and Audiojunkie mentioned it a few messages earlier and because to me that's where we need to improve the most.

I really appreciate that you took the time to make your point for the state saving. This means that evens if Remixlive has a few flaws in your opinion, you can still see the potential. Then it is only up to us to improve based on feedback like yours, so I will make sure we seriously consider state saving for 3.1/3.2.

Excellent. In return, I will keep an eye on the app. Very happy to become a customer if/when it suits my needs.

  • Good! Let's see what we can come up with for the next versions, we will keep everyone posted.

  • MIDI learn/Launchpad Pro integration, AudioShare, and also a MIDI clock sync (like LP app) so I can use Launchpad Pro midi ports with my hardware guitar pedals. If you had these things I would replace lauchpad app as I think remix is a better clip launcher and with the finger drumming/import/recording (on a launchpad pro) will set it apart... Just my 2 cents
