Precious 4 year old story. Around the time of Batman '89, West was doing some promotional appearances at Blockbuster Videos. Ma took me and I got his autograph, buuut...an employee or somebody was dressed to the nines as Joker. I was terrified (in a way only a young child can be) cause he was walking freely around the store and Batman was just sitting there signing autographs. I was screaming at Adam West to stop him! And of course Blockbuster had a red phone, which I equated to the Bat-Phone. 'Why isn't it ringing!!? Come on Gordon!'

  • Last time I saw Adam West was on an episode of Comic Book Men (before I gave up on the show) when he walked into the store. Serene and the epitome of a gentleman, but still possessed of good humour.

Coincidentally, we were watching the series finale of Gotham, last night, which was the first in which the young Bruce Wayne dons a crude Batman suit,

  • Season 3 of Gotham hasn't even started airing in the UK!

  • He was the best. RIP.

A few months ago I watched this documentary:

I think it's a fan project but very well done.

Great guy. Humble and intelligent, brilliant humor.

Also a good read: "Back To The Batcave", his Batman biography, published in the early 90s.

  • Very very sad
