Fab Filter Pro-Q in Auria - how are you using it?
Pro-Q is one FabFilter plugin I don't own, and probably at the top of my want list
How are you using Pro-Q? Are you using it as primary EQ on channels that need EQ, replacing the channel strip EQ, or only in special instances, for surgical application, or...?
I know some FF plugins can be CPU hungry, so I'm wondering how I can expect to use it on my iPad Air 2.

Pro Q2 for EQ, multiple tracks, on iPad Air 2. No problems at all, and Fab sounds.
Runs great on Air 2
It just sits there, unused on my digital Auria shelf. Now, Pro Q 2, that gets used a lot. I typically have between 4-6 instances in most projects. Seems like each instance of Q2 only adds 1-2% to CPU usage on my piddly 1Gb Ram Air 1. Can't remember if the original Q was quite so kind regarding CPU.
It's just a great, visual EQ that let's you get downright surgical. I'll do initial EQ using the PSP channel strip, "cause those are useful and take care of a lot of standard EQ moves. But tracks that need more attention get a visit from the doctor. I also use Q2 on the main mix buss.
I use the Pro Q2 an almost all tracks, busses and master in a song.Very ressource friendly (unlike most other fabfilter),you can run a lot of them on air 2 without noticing the cpu usage too much.I would say it's my most important FX plugin.
I don't use it on all tracks, but always use it a handful of times in every project. I'd be lost without it. Essential.
I've used it going in onto 'tape', mixing channels, groups & master bus. It is incredibly clean and you get spoiled with the visual feedback, especially the input spectrometer showing what are the peak frequencies. I like to use different colors just to vary things (even if in a small way), so for bass or guitar sometimes I'll use DDMF's Neve EQ, but first I use Pro Q2 to get it sounding good and then transfer that frequency, Q & db +/- information into the DDMF. It just adds the visual feedback element to an EQ, effect, etc that doesn't have that facility.
The main stuff I've been working on are songs that began on analog 8 track several years ago. I import those tracks or a submix of them to Auria Pro and then 'massage' them with Fab Filter plugs. I have been amazed how any 'wooly' mid-range or hissy frequencies can be subdued with Q2, it's just really cool. The whole selection of FF plugins are invaluable.
Wow, you guys, great info, thanks much. Just what I was hoping to hear regarding CPU usage - you've sold me on Q2!
