Any iOS app that can slice samples and have the slices timestretch in sync to changes in tempo?

  • "what's **that **app that lets you adjust playback rate, and (by default) pitch is adjusted, to keep same ratio?"

    link pitch & playback rate

this seems like a good place to ask... it's a long shot, but shy bairns get nowt!

I was playing with an app semi-recently. i THINK it was audiobus-compatible (not certain). I know it had some play functionality... and between the 'pitch' & 'speed' (or time?) there was a link button, that was enabled by default.

IIRC, when I turned one dial up, the other went down.

this allowed me to adjust the playback rate, without the time being affected...

It looked a bit like the SugarBytes UI (seen in apps like Egoist)
a lot like the dials seen in iVCS3
and a lot like arturia's link ON (link delay left & right on FX) :)
(there's an option to link channel 1 + channel 2 - I can't even find that right now)

As usual, I can't find the app now, or remember who it was :(

    does this sound familiar?

    thanks

  • Looptunes/LooptunesHD/LooptunesDJ does automatic timestretching, is audiobus compatible, and Link enabled.

  • Link not working btw checking out for the future post is from March 2014...

Korg Gadget with Stockholm does this.
Drambo does it too, using a trick combining re-pitched Flexi slices with the pitch shift module added.

@tja Neither NS1 nor NS2 can do time stretching. Of course you can do the cheap trick with sample start modulation but the quality won't be comparable to any better timestretching algorithm.

What a bummer that we missed the 10yrs anniversary of this thread 🤣

Nanostudio has a nice overlooked feature.

If you have a perfect loop, and load it in the keyboard sampler, you can enter the number of slices you want, and if you play the keys is like slicing it on ableton.

Then you place 16th notes on your piano roll and job done. It's really simple to use and pretty powerful.

It doesn't do transient detection though.

Does nanostudio 2 offer this too?

    Holy Necro-Thread!

  • Damn! So many great names I recognise from ages ago who don't seem to visit here anymore sadly.

I was search for auto-slice Apps, for the Amen Break ...
So far, I tried with Auditor, loading the slices into Loopy Pro.

What about Loopy Pro's clip slicer widget?
It auto-slices and time stretches slices according to project bpm.
I bet @espiegel123 knows how to fine tune slice positions after transient detection, I just haven't found it yet.

Currently, there isn’t any fine-tuning in the slicer. It’s planned but I have no idea if the time-frame.

Koala, but more possibilities are in Drambo.

edit: pardon, I’m not sure if Koala will follow tempo after enable stretching on slices.

    Woahhh !

I was not aware of this, only knew about the individual donat slicing - I found the widget in the documentation and will test!

    Many thanks! 🤗

I added such a widget to a new project, but somehow I cannot find a way to load a WAV.
It does not react to swipe-up or dragging a WAV file.

    😢

The clip slicer acts on audio loaded in a clip. It doesn't contain audio itself.
