  • Cool

I hope it doesn't crash anymore.

In AB2 it crashes 80% after using. Can't make through a song.

Not sure as AU, but I need the "whole" app to use.

I really would have preferred building on old frame with the 4 track.

I still use Nave and Animoog I think alot due to recorders.

    Just me though

    Is it out now?

  • Out today yes.

Crashed as AU too...which puts too much at risk (because the DAW won't open anymore)

What daw is this ? Never had issues in AumSTEP.

  • no audiobus crash here

  • Was just going through apps needing updating and found this little gem in the box this morning. Came over here right away to report on this and of course someone else thinks it's a cool update also. :D

  • "Audiobus 3: Arpeggio 4 track MIDI out"
Can someone please explain this for me? I was hoping this meant the ability to record Addictive Pro's midi out for each of the four tracks, with AB3. So, I just purchased AB3, but it's not obvious how to set this up, if in fact that's what the feature means.

  • This is one of those apps that I covet from a distance. Immediate purchase if it ever goes universal.

It's 4 track ~MIDI~ out. This means you can set it up as an Audiobus 3 MIDI generator, and send individual tracks to different synths. You could record those as individual tracks in AUM.

It doesn't mean you can record the audio generated inside addictive pro as four separate audio tracks.

Or, are you trying to record MIDI notes into a sequencer? You can make modstep a receiver in the Audiobus midi panel, and play Addictive into it, and record the midi.

Btw, I would highly recommend @Alexandernaut's Fugue Machine, if this is your thing. Let addictive pro be a synth, and gain a superior sequencer and creative tool.

  • Yes, the midi output of Addictive Pro is what I was to record in another app, say Gadget. I would expect to see Addictive Pro show up in the midi input panel in the attached image.

Gadget isn't ab3 midi compatible. You need mf adapter for the older coremidi apps. Haven't tested addictive pros ab3 implementation yet. Will do it and post back here.

that's where it should appear ... maybe try restarting your iPad

  • Another trick if an app doesn't show up. Run the app first then start Audiobus.

Thanks, that did the trick, all set!

  • @VirSyn Thanks for the update. I'm getting an issue with the hold key function not always working on the arp screen. IAA loaded in AUM. iPad 10.5 Pro / 10.3.2

  • Wow, just bought Ripplemaker and this goes great with it :)

  • preset 'close' is busted

    Me too, no hold function

@VirSyn absolutely brilliant update. Works solid on ipad air 2 controlling Imini and Model 15. One question, nwhen inserted as midi in in audiobus3 Addictive pro sound does not sound at all. Is this a behaviour expected?

Its part of the Ab3 midi protocol. a sender cannot produce sounds. @brambos confirmed this.
His Ripplemaker and Troublemaker synths also do not produce sounds as senders. on the flip-side you can just insert more Au copies of Addictive pro on the receiving end.

Indeed, it's mandatory to disable your audio engine when the app is in AB3 midi mode.

thanks for the clarification. I thought this would be the case but better now that it was confirmed.

  • I had addictive in the first midi slot and the same instance produced audio while doicked in the first audio slot. Each IAA instance was able to control the other. this is how i would exxpect it to work. Troublemaker lived up to its name and cut its own audio. If i did this right. Weren't radiohead good.

  • Never heard of em.

  • edited June 2017

I'm not sure I fully understand what you're describing. IAA can only be single-instance, right?

  • Troublemakers midi output kills any audio from the app in an audio slot. Addictive pro's midi out, from its arp, doesn't prevent audio from the same app in an audio slot.

A far as I know that's according to AB3's rules. If you're in a midislot you're not supposed keep your sound engine running. But I'll double check with the AB guys.

This plus 4x Ripplemaker = sublime sounding modular goodness @brambos
