Voice dictation app?

Just been looking for a good voice dictation app, as Siri is awful. I spotted Dragon Dictate, which I used to have on my desktop gear. But the standard version looks to be abandonware, as it was last updated in 2013. The business version requires a tenner just to try it out, and has a ludicrous £100 plus subscription!

Are there any alternatives for IOS that actually work?

Try Gboard for IOS. It's a keyboard that replaces the standard IOS keyboard and has its own microphone button that uses Google dictation technology instead of Siri. I think you have to enable some sort of permission for it to work.

In any case it's free and you might like it better than Siri. You might even like the keyboard itself better than the standard IOS one.

Oh dear, reviews are terrible following last update.

Drafts has good dictation. You can talk, pause and then start speaking again and it will pick up where you left off without having to press the screen to summon it again.

Really? I don't use it that much, and haven't at all since the last update, but it seemed to work well enough before. Hopefully they fix whatever they broke
