Want to help beta test DRC with Audiobus 3 support?

Hi,

I'm adding Audiobus 3 support to DRC. Would you be interested in testing it in your Audiobus 3 setup to see if everything is working as expected?

Thanks!

Best regards,

Nuno

I think he meant does he have to buy the synth engine unlock to beta test ?

  • Usually one does NOT need to have or own the app to beta-test as the app to be tested is downloaded using Testflight. I do admit I've been 'lazy' lately when it comes to testing DRC and even forgot to ask for the additional presets but hey, that's just me...

If/when DRC gains AUv3 support I'll give it my full attention again ;)

I'm wondering the opposite. I own drc already, will installing this beta version mess with my projects?

If the answer is "no" then I would be happy to help testing!

    Obviously not! :)

@Samu my bad. With so many thinks to do I tend to forget basic things such as spoiling beta users

I have been investigating AUV3 and I must confess it will bring me a huge amount of work because I don't develop in pure iOS technologies. So basically it will take time but it is not impossible.

As long as you don't delete the app, your local patches will stay there. This means that you need to install by overwriting. If you don't want to take risks, then proceed with care. This is why I call public help after all, discover things I couldn't realize alone in my normal tests.

  • I'd be interested. I haven't been able to get DRC working with a few other apps through AB3+MF adapter. I have an iPad and iPhone, both running latest version of iOS.

That's all I needed to hear, count me in for testing

  • Am testing, using KRFT as sequencer, Cubasis as destination, some MF Midi Randomizer in between...smooth and delicious.

I'd love to test as well.

Also, for anyone interested there's a great interview with Nuno from Imaginando on the AfroDJMac Podcast. It's an inspiring interview and chat with a dev and artist who's passion is contagious.

No worries. I do get that adding 'platform specific stuff' to a cross platform app can be a bit of a challenge.
Since the desktop DRC can already be loaded as an AU into LPX I just thought that half of the work is already done ;)

  • DRC sounds lovely!
    PM sent @sinosoidal

  • Hey Nuno, I would love to help you beta DRC. It's a great sounding synth.

  • PM'd Nuno...

Yes I'm confused too, I thought that as it's already a Mac AU then it's relatively easy to convert as they are basically the same as iOS AUv3 (But then I'm not a programmer) :)

Nope, the App Extension architecture is actually quite tricky. You need to bundle an app as a plugin inside the App. This is specially tricky when you rely on a framework that is not prepared for this. I have two options:

    • I use DRC code and make a new graphics UI for the App Extension
    • I find a way of integrating everything

I would prefer the second but both will take time. Much more time than I was expecting! :bawling:

  • I really would love to try out with AB3, I was still deciding to get this app because it sounds great but missing some connectivity options. I hope I can beta-test !!! Greetings from Amsterdam

Ah, annoying that things are usually more complex than they seem :)
I'm looking forward to AU from a user perspective though since the only reason I don't use it as much as some others is it lacks that function so far. Just makes workflow much better. And multiple instances, yum.

  • Hey guys! Thanks to all your feedback so far. It seems that in general the AB3 integration is working. I haven't told you but I haven't implemented DRC midi output via AB3 yet and no one has complained. I'm realising it is not a very used feature!

Cool. Yeah I can't imagine people needing Midi Out with your great synth. Just Midi In B)

Have you tried the latest build? It should have MIDI out enabled now.
