Hey Devs - how hard is the conversion of a 'regular' app to AU?
To someone like me who is wondering why some of his favourite apps (cough Model 15 cough) haven't so far been converted to run as lovely AUs, I'm just curious if its a straightforward repackaging sort of affair or not, and if it's much harder if the app wasn't built with AU in mind?
Comments
Certainly not a repackaging job. More like a fundamental redesign and rewrite of the entire app.
Thought so. Kudos for your work then. Playing Ruismaker through Eos today was next level stuff.
Hard to see how the could squish the UI for model 15 down that much.
Maybe people could make player AU versions
Yeah I'd expect it cut down like Oddysei as Lexington in Gadget, just to get multiple versions of that sweet sound. Or maybe scroll like iceworks do.
I imagine it would be a giant pain in the ass
I did email Moog about this and they are actively evaluating this for iOS11
Please please please. Etc.
With iOS 11, AU'UI no longer need to be a fixed small size : as I understand it you can use almost full screen which is mandatory for an app such as Model 15
Pre iOS 11 AU UI are not fixed to a small size. The size restrictions you see are imposed by the host apps or the AU its self, not the system. AUM lets you size the AU almost any size...
But that's not according to Apple's specs.
