Anyone use Sinusoid? Or other 8-bit tracker

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sinusoid/id416624795?mt=8

Looking for something to sketch out ideas that will eventually be put into Famitracker. Currently using Caustic, but something that more closely mimics the limitations of Famitracker would be awesome.

I can't find any videos of anyone actually using Sinusoid, just some sound demos.

  • I know it's a very capable tracker, having once seen a video of a fellow composing with it on the fly and describing his methods— beautiful and complex music, but it's apparently left the interwebs. Perhaps @humbletune remembers? Dude really knew his stuff and worked quickly.

  • SidTracker64 is by far my favourite in this category.

On the desktop(Mac/Win/Linux) Deflemask is pretty good stating point in that category.
It can even save the files as binaries for the target system :)

That's exactly the kind of video I'd like to check out, thanks.

    I'll check it out.

I've used Deflemask on my Mac, but for this specific project I'm running Famitracker (wrapped using WINE), which works great after increasing Famitracker's buffer size.

  • It's a shame Renoise tracker DAW wasn't ported over to IOS...... That would be something intresting.

I think about this a lot...and that then makes me imagine at least Redux for iOS...

Hi @Littlewoodg.. Just got the email back from the Renoise Dev............ It's not going to happen. :( ....... Here's the email.......

    Hi Darren,

We have no plans to make an iOS version of Renoise.

It would require us to completely redesign the entire application with touch / multi-touch in mind, not to mention all the other conveniences that an iOS app is expected to do.

This would obviously be a huge change compared to the desktop version of Renoise, and is unfortunately not something that we really have the resources for at the moment.

    Best regards,

Hi. I'm just requesting if it was possible if your DAW Renoise would be ported over to IOS?........ I think that iOS needs your software, as knowone has made a good enough tracker like yours. Kindest Regards, Darren.

Yep. Just sent them a request to port Redux...that in itself would be a game changer for iOS.

Sorry guys I don't remember, it would be interesting to see for me too. :) As for how good and capable sinusoid is I will leave for others to say. It was a fun project for me anyway, hopefully I can get time and inspiration to work on it in the future again.. I am sure there are things that can be improved.

    Cheers

SIDTRACKER is a beast but not maintained and potentially abandoned? NO?

I use ALEX's PIXIE TRACKER and all his other apps. I love them.

I still don't get Sunvox but try like hell.

    What? For real?
    AWESOME
Edit: Oh wow... Thanks for the heads up...
And thanks @humbletune - We love you

  • The new Sinusoid update is ‘huge’, way more usable now :)

  • How can u sync start and stop in Aum?

    Hit the metronome

  • Summoning the double tap menu for pages is somewhat hot or miss?!

Guess it just takes some practice or something?!

Way easier to summon it in the AUv3 compared to stand-alone?!

  • @Jumpercollins thx so much.

    Now I wait a tutorial from @Gavinski.

This app is a little beat complicated for my small brain😂

  • I’ll install it again on my iPad hoping it will work better than on my iPhone 8...

  • edited January 2021

Now I remember why I initially deleted it from my iPad...

The stand-alone is locked to portrait mode but thankfully the AUv3 works in landscape mode :)
(Also very 'crash prone' in AUv3 when using external midi-input).

    Cheers!

  • Wow, tracker AU with midi out. Need to get this later today.

  • Bought my first tracker ( not counting SnVx ;) )
