EDEN SYNTH from NANOSTUDIO Quick Play Demo for the iPad

Could this be the end for Eden, it hasn't been updated for years now, does anyone know anymore about NanoStudio 2 or if it will even have a version of Eden inside it. I hope it does because this is one of the most original sounding synths we ever got on iOS me thinks and it would be horrible to loose it now.

Always keep an old Ipad handy. I have an old Ipad 4 that Nano is on. Gotta be careful with that one, Eden is too good to lose.

  • Yeah still hold my iphone4 and ipad2 just for NanoStudio.
Everytime i used it i am surprised how good it is...
I really hope that NS2 will come, but its so silence around it

  • NanoStudio 2 is very real

    Check the demo here

    http://forums.blipinteractive.co.uk/node/11598

Eden has been renamed obsidian too... that means it will be black not gray

The app will be released soon:)

And it will be app of the year

Great demo Doug! I still love the shit out of the Padded Cell preset. The synth in NS2 (Obsidian) will be an entirely new beast and will not be able to import Eden presets. If you want Eden, you'll need to keep a machine that can run NS1. I have two!

I really hope nanostudio gets a 64bit update eventually. I have hundreds of patches and projects and I'm hoping it won't entirely disappear. Even more importantly. If it does disappear for a while and then gets updated eventually will I have to rebuy it? I'd get nanostudio 2 when it comes out but none of the musicians I know use including me use ipads. We all have iphones so I'm always on the lookout for universal apps

Also I just love nanostudios layout and sound. The hybrid synth/sampling is so useful

  • The 'no limits" tune on the demo sound very good! Really looking forward to Nano2!!

  • @Panthemusicalgoat NS1 is never going to be 64 bit. Dev announced it on his forum. It's a 7 year old (!) app and way too much of the code base consists of hand optimized assembler for 32 bit chip sets.

You have to keep a pre-11 device around to keep it alive. The good news is it'll run just fine on an old iPod Touch. My main concern is Apple simply removing it from the app store so that it's no longer accessible to older devices. I NS1 installed on an old iPad and an old phone. Need to make full back ups of those to my local machine so that I can restore them as needed, just in case!

He also confirmed on the NS forum that NS2 will be universal. I wouldn't be surprised if the phone version is delayed a bit as it seems to be a trend these days with bigger apps.

Nah...Matt will release it as universal

He takes his time but delivers the goods fully

This year.. the wait is nearly over

  • I wish he would release Eden AKA Obsidian as a standalone synth.
    I need no more workstations.

Is that confirmed by the developer somewhere ?

No guaranteed dates at this point but this year is the publicly stated plan. NS1 is fixing to drop out of the AppStore so Matt is definitely pushing hard.

+1 on that, just call it Eden and we'll all buy it $10 a piece. And thank him for allowing us to update our iPads. Mines staying on iOS 10 until I can bring myself to forget this synth.

  • Lol...nano studio 2 is on the way..sooner than u think

    Enough said..

As far as no need for more workstations..I dissagree...people are getting bored with gadget, beatmaker 3 will overwhelm and disappoint many

As far as workstations go, we need more variety of these in a vastly overcrowded synth market..we must have hundreds of synths already lol..one comes out every month I reckon

The joy of nanostudio 1 was its affordability and its stability..what to speak of the small amount of storage space it used..it was the standalone king before gadget and very convenient and super stable

    In regards to workstations:
    I said I, not others.
I can play in time and all that, so I have no need to fill in dots on a piano roll or whatever; I find that leads to tedium that I just don't need. Also, I perversely like to string several discrete apps together in a workflow. Thank you AB and AUM!
But I am just speaking only for myself; others have different needs and wishes.
Besides, can one ever have too many synths? :)
    Peace,
    Jeff

No more updates will be done for the current version, I already asked the developer on the forum, they said no more development will be done on Nanostudio 1, all their efforts are going into version 2....when it coming out? I have no idea.

So you are the developer ?
Or you are guessing that it is coming out sooner than this year (Which is what he thought)
Is it already out and we didn't notice ?

And you are a beta tester on Beatmaker 3 and think it will disappoint many, that is unfortunate :( i was looking forward to it.

I personally see that apps that are hyped get forgotten about pretty soon and musicians move on fast. Very few stand the test of time, out of those, most are simple and unique like thumb jam and blocs wave.

Beatmaker 3 proposes ( and some are already assuming) to be the ultimate iOS daw. It may or may not be. But the question remains- will it be a long standing app fix or will people be bugging out for more features??

The simpler apps seem to satisfy more in the long run. Take figure for example :)

Excellent points. Speaking for myself, I have great moments producing on iOS. The trick is how to link all those moments together cohesively. I tend to stick to apps that allow me to do more complex things is a very simplified manner. Figure is a perfect example. If the learning curve on BM3 is too great, I'll be sticking with Gadget.

  • Nanostudio.

    Solid.

    Not one crash.

    Ever!

  • I'm devastated it's disappearing eventually. I know I could get an old ios device but I'll probably just wait till nanostudio 2 comes out for iPhone. Hopefully that's soonish. I know Matt has been busy

@syrupcore I see you on the nanostudio forums all the time. I'm Harison Zamperla on there.

  • I look forward to 2 (pf course I do), but there will never be another 1.

Very this. Sure NS2 will be incredible but I'm not letting go of NS1. I keep other old hardware around because of the sounds they make, no reason I wouldn't keep an old iOS device around just for NS1.

  • I never look back when a new major version comes out....only if it would be full of bugs or won't run on my current set-up.
A reason why i also don't care about if patches of a synth runs in the new major version.
Instead i hope for a new, better synth engine and better FX. Modulations everywhere.
I still like NS1 but i'm sure i won't miss it after the new version comes or other better apps.

  • However, from the demos i heard NS2 still seems to have that Eden sound. But i'm sure it can do more.

  • Nanostudio was my first. I loved it. I still don't think there is a faster, better piano roll in iOS. I may keep it sitting around on an old device just to compose .mid files. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to control external apps with NS2 (assuming the piano roll hasn't changed much).

I'm looking forward to seeing if there have been significant improvements with the file manager. NanoSync has its uses, but improved AudioShare import/export would be great. Maybe it won't even be necessary with the new iOS file manager.

Matt has said that NS2 addresses 'many of the most often requested features' on the NS forum. Audioshare and Dropbox integration are certainly in the top 10. My vote: hopeful.
