First song produced in Cubasis.
Hi all.
Here's a link for my most recent song. I've been working on it since downloading cubasis in the sale recently. Quite happy with the way it's turned out. And it's my first song with singing in it. So apologies in advance for that!!!
Have a listen if you get chance and by all means let me know your thoughts and suggestions!
Thanks guys.

Nice song @Vineyboy. I like your voice as well. Seems a little light on the bass, but that could be the cheap speakers I'm using.
Nice guitar sound and pleasant melody and vocals. A few too many claps for my personal taste though
Thanks both. Hopefully it's just your speakers funjunkie27 because I did put a bit of base in there. I was weary of cranking it too loud though so you might be right.
Thanks again. Much appreciated!
Very nice, but what AlterEgo said, you're kinda clapping over your vocals which need to be heard.
I like it! Reminds me of a lot of stuff I used to listen to in the 80s. :-)
What would be the solution to the clapping over the vocals? I can think of compression + sidechain or volume automation, neither of which are available in Cubasis. Or just moving the claps around?
Thank for the feedback guys.
I'll be honest though, I was going for a pretty dense glitchy sound with the drums.
Plus the vocals are intentionally quite low as its my first song with singing on, so I wasn't overly confident about it. After some positive feedback though next time I'll crank up the vocals so perhaps the drums wouldn't be so much of a problem.
Thats a really good song..reminds me also of early 80's...bands like The Icicle Works, Flock Of Seagulls, China Crisis, OMD, Black, all thier early stuff had that lovely synth feel....suggested listening that you can find on YT is African And White by China Crisis...take half the reverb off the vocal and move it up in the mix by at least 2db...thats why the clap is overpowering...or maybe replace the clap with an 808 style snare...you have a really good melody and a good voice..cool track that by its very nature brought back alot of nice memories...
Thanks very much thesoundtestroom. I'm a big OMD fan so I'm really chuffed with the comparison. I'd never heard that china crisis song before. Very cool. Thanks for the suggestions too.
@thesoundtestroom Yeah, that's the stuff I used to listen to (still do and love it!). :-)
@Vineboy Try @thesoundtestroom's recommendations and repost. I'd love to hear the fixed mix and if you are willing, I'd love to download and add to my collection of songs from people I know. :-)
P.S. I'd personally not remove the reverb from your vocals, but just bring the vocals up a little in your mix. I wouldn't be too quick to change the claps either, because things might sound just fine after you bring the vocals up. :-)
Cheers guys. I'll bring up the vocals and see what it sounds like and then decide about the claps.
But no need to ask about downloading. Just go for it. It's set up for downloading on soundcloud.
Also The New Stone Age by OMD is one of my favourite songs of all time.
Another question - any suggestions for other forums etc to get your songs heard?
I only share mine on here and with close friends but would quite like spread the word a bit more.
Cheers.
Love the warm, atmospheric pads, and your voice is great. This is like a great chillwave Indie track. Just enough R&B/80s overtones to soften it up. And that guitar + chorus is PERFECT. Subtle yet engaging.
Fav'd and follow'd. Keep up the good work, and show off your voice some more.
Great tune. Also liked and followed.
Claps are perfect but I agree with the others: brave up with the vocals. They're good! I think maybe 3-5db is all that's needed, maybe via a compressor.
Liked and followed too (Now that I've figured out my Sound Cloud password again ;-) ).
Wow thanks guys. Over the moon with your comments.
Jesse_ohio I think those are all the elements that I was thinking of when making the song so thanks again. A band called Wild Nothing especially. I think you would really like them.
God I love Wild Nothing. Bought the record on a whim. I won.
Now I'm gonna have to check Wild Nothing out! :-)
Yes! Definitely Wild Nothing!
I think the three of us need to collab :-D
Oh my goodness yes! Thats an awesome idea.
Audiojunkie - Try Wild Nothing's first album Gemini. It's a perfect chill wave record.
I've been listening to Wild Nothing for the last 10 minutes, and I really, really like it! I've discovered a new band that I like! :-) By the way, @Vineboy, after listening to Wild Nothing, I can definitely say the influences really show, including the vocal volume. :-) I still think it needs to come up a little, but I also see why you did what you did. :-)
P.S. I really like the song, Paradise! :-)
P.P.S. Wild Nothing's sound really reminds me of a chilled version of the Stone Roses--especially the singing on Shadow. Check out the similarities:
Now I can see even more why I like this band! They are influenced by all the bands I like! :-)

shit, wild nothing and the stone roses. IN ONE THREAD?
Down for a collab.
Oh hecks yes. Driving South is my JAM
Sounds like fun! :-)
Audiojunkie I'm glad you're liking WN. And I agree with you about those vocal similarities with the Stone Roses.
Thanks for your comments too.
I've followed you guys on soundcloud and am working my way through your stuff. Everything so far has been so cool.
I personally don't have any stuff of my own there, because I haven't finished anything in quite a while. :-( Part of it is my lack of time, and part of it is that I haven't felt very inspired. I enjoy it, and want to do more, but just haven't. I envy you guys that have such good finished songs! :-) However, check out my follow list and listen to my friend Oliver's band, DulceSky. If you like bands like Radiohead, The Church, or Ride, you will probably like them. :-)
AJ what's your Soundcloud... You can find me at
Err I had no idea soundcloud would drop all that there. Sorry.
Here's my Soundcloud link. As you can see, I don't have anything of my own up, but I have some people that I follow. Check out DulceSky The main person behind that band is a personal friend of mine, and lives a few blocks away from me. I haven't used Soundcloud much, but now that I have some more friends to follow (like you guys here), I'll probably use it a lot more often now. :-) I'm following you now. :-)
