  • Thank you everyone for the comments on the new presets. I had a ton of fun making each and every one of them and I hope you guys will get a lot of use out of them—as is or as starting points for completely new patches. Feel free to share any / all creations. Would love to hear where you guys take them!

@brice, loving the presets but have (a possibly dumb) question:

I noticed that with your Abstract presets, there are 38 instrument components for downloading to a layer. I don't see any for the Cinematics presets. Can you let me know if this is an error in DLing or are all the sounds made from the Factory components?

    Cheers!

Thanks! That's not a dumb question at all. There is no error in the download. When I made the performance presets for the Abstract bank I set aside some time to save the individual instrument presets. However, I did not do the same when I created all of the sounds for the Cinematics bank. So that is why you don't see a bank of "Cinematic" instruments within the preset banks. Fact is I was working on the performance presets right up until the time of the update release and I simply ran out of time to save out the individual instruments I created. If it's something you (or anyone else?) would be interested in I can make a bank of the Cinematic instruments available for download. Just let me know!

@brice, Personally, I'd love to have the instruments available. The sounds you've coaxed from the synth are just too good not to have them for creating more presets. :)

Thank you, my friend. Let me inquire with the developer and see if there are any upcoming "bug fix" updates in the works. If so I'll see if he can drop the instrument bank in there. If not, then I will go ahead and setup the bank as a downloadable thing. I will keep you posted here.

  • Thanks, @brice, that's very generous of you! Looking forward to being able to (hopefully) build on your sonic mayhem!

Count me in, the Cinematic Performances are gorgeous, the instruments therein are stunning...it would be so amazing to play with them separately.

  • @brice would very much want the instrument components as well :)

  • I smell a sideline here Mister @brice :)

  • Me too! Me too! ;)

  • Goodbye Alchemy :( and Hello LayR! :)

  • @brice
Your presets are amazing. Can we imagine that, one day, you will publish a step by step useguide on how you did a preset (for exemple, "Human Randomizer") ?

Brice deserves the comments he's getting here! The work he put into them is incredible. I just came here to point out that when you load a performance, you can save any of the instruments in that performance out as a separate preset to an instrument bank. Just tap the save button in any instrument strip. You can then edit it, load it into another performance etc etc. You can also copy and paste individual layers between any instrument. It's also good to make use of the solo buttons in the instrument strips. That way you can hear what each instrument and even each layer is doing. ( And before anyone asks, dragging and dropping layers between instruments is in the works, it's far from trivial to change the code to do that so it might be a while, but it's in the pipe ;) )

the drag and drop would be amazing. but i would settle on being able to append more than 1 performance. currently you can append 2 different presets. but the moment you append a 3rd it wipes the first. this can be worked around by saving a performance after every append but it feels like an uncessary step. could we please get multi append soon ?

  • Simply amazing!
Loving this mega synth so much!
Thanks for all your hard work and dedication!

Ah yes, the workaround for that is to save the one you've just appended into to a preset bank before doing it again.
I call it a workaround but it's actually a non-fatal bug, it's on the list to be fixed :)

  • I'm about to press purchase but need to know if this has a note hold button please

  • @Love3quency said:

It does. And it also has an envelope capable of decay and release times of 100 seconds. If you want a note to be held you're in the right place.

Thank you! Certainly, we can imagine that. But in the image, picture me as an expert describer of things, and definitely not as a bozo who rambles on and fumbles over thoughts and words, okay?! B) I shall give a step-by-step guide a solid try. Fingers crossed!

Not clear about using append: when I have one performance loaded and press "append" then "enable append" on the pop up, the green "appending" prompt appears. But when I press "done" the first performance is gone...or is it hiding someplace?

Is there a wait time while the "appending" prompt appears (in other words should I wait to press done"). Or am I doing something else wrong? So far Append hasn't appended a second performance to a first for me, yet.

At the moment BOTH performances, the one you want to append to and the one you're appending with must be saved in a preset slot. It's a bug I really need to fix but other issues were more pressing. It's in the pipe :)

  • @brice @LivingMemorySoftware

Just downloaded it on iPad mini retina and iPhone se

The iPhone is brand new since Monday and running latest iOS but no Brice cinematic presets appear

I have restarted device and even reinstalled the app but still no presets lol

I'd like them as these presets are what made me buy the app

  • Also...this pops up every two minutes @brice @LivingMemorySoftware

  • But... initial tinkering with this synth is very rewarding

    Easily the best iOS synth:)

Hmmm, maybe drop Andy a note via their website regarding this issue if you haven't already? I'm just a noisemaker on the other side of the world, and you've already done everything I always try when something on iOS gives me grief! I'm sure he'll be able to get it straightened out, though.

I'm curious....when you're loading presets, you're going to the down arrow icon on the far right side of the screen just above the "FX" button, yeah? Just want to make sure because that's how you access the performance presets, and that is where my Cinematics bank lives. There is no Cinematics bank in the instrument preset banks, which you access via the down arrow icon on the individual channel strips. So, if that's where you're looking then it makes sense you would not see any Cinematics presets in there. There will be soon....but not yet! However, there should be 124 of them in the Performance Presets bank. Just want to make sure you're looking in the right place first and foremost!

Sorry, I remain confused: Both the performances I'm putting together are already saved as presets, (they are presets, Mr Brice's and Mr RedSkyLullaby's for example).

Which two presets are you attempting to merge? I've just had a test with some various combos and they've all merged correctly. But I'm interested to see which ones you're tying to merge though, and if I can / can't get them together on this end. One thing to keep in mind is that some performance presets will have drastically different key ranges. You may press C2 for instance and only hear one of the performance presets playing back because the one you appended cuts off at E3. Not sure if that's what is happening here, but do put that in a mental file.

Thanks for problem solving this with me-

And as I was writing back to describe my - user error - steps, I figured out what I was doing wrong: I wasn't selecting the second preset after hitting "enable append" I had been selecting the next preset first, then pressing "append" then "enable append", and expecting it to happen, cart before horse.

Dude you're the best. You're LayR-whisperer vibe sorted me out by osmosis...
