Article Confirming Sebastion's Advice: You Might Want to Wait Before Updating Some Devices to iOS 7

VERY Interesting article--especially the performance aspect on older machines:

  • Yea iOS 7 is a bit rushed no doubt. But the iPad 2 version of iOS 7 isn't gonna be released tomorrow tho, and I really really hope they cut out all the lul lul like graphic effects and whatever else that will have a negative impact on performance (both ram and cpu), so all iPad 2 owners can get all the upgraded under the hood stuff when it comes to core audio/inter-app audio/midi and whatever else there is without getting a slower machine in the process.

I'm probably gonna upgrade my iPhone 5 tomorrow unless some devs start shouting not to, the iPad 2 is my main iOS music device anyway.

  • I'll be upgrading my iPhone 4, since it no longer serves as a phone anyway (upgraded to an iPhone 5.) I'll be waiting to hear what the early adopters say about the iPhone 5 and iPad 4.

Yeah, I've heard that iOS7 won't be coming to the iPad until October (possibly in the October event that I posted rumors about). However, the iPad 2 is slow enough without needing to be slowed down further. This gives me another reason to be VERY careful about the update, and I think this article gives new insight into the possible performance hurdles that many of us using older hardware may face, so I think it is important to get the news out.....

  • I am not gonna upgrade till it's tried and tested..just not worth the hassle yet...

  • They do not mention the 4s though.I'm gonna update on this one.

  • Actually they did mention the 4s, but they didn't seem as concerned about performance, which is what the chief complaint seems to be in the article. There is no doubt the 4s will suffer a hit too, but it probably won't be as crippling as it would be for those of us with older hardware that are suffering as it is...
