  • I got Auria Pro on discount a month or two ago. Any suggestions as to which three Fab Filters to buy? I will mostly be using Auria Pro to mix.

  • Pro-Q2, Pro-L and Timeless. I use these plugins for everything

OK - I got the Pro-Q2 for now, as I do not seem to have anything comparable. I have plugins for delay and reverb from Audio Damage, which may not be quite as deluxe, but sound very good to my ears. I'm wondering if the limiter or the compressor plug in is the better thing to go with now. I know, different tools, but some overlap there...

  • @ALB I would get Pro Q-2 for tracking.
Then for mixdown, I'd get Pro-L.

These 3 tools are among the reasons why Auria Pro is a DAW that can yield professional results.

Now if you are looking for fun: Timeless is my favorite plugin for the iPad. I used to just plug my guitar into Timeless and play for hours.

Pro-R is probably a more practical fourth purchase, but it costs more : )

  • @Reid - okay, so Pro-2, Pro-L, and what is the third?

    Now £22.

  • @ALB first of all you need Pro-Q2. Just because everyone needs ProQ2  Once ProQ will be gotten, you should define what do you want to do with your mix with dynamic or creative plugging. I sure everyone needs a good limiter but maybe you're satisfied with limiter which you have already had on PSP-MasterStrip within Auria. But anyway ProL is the one of the best limiter in the world so it definitely worth $29.99.

  • Seems like the more 'good news' happens the lighter my wallet gets!

True, but in 6 months you won't care about the money, but you will be very pleased with yourself for having the soft machinery at your disposal...

  • Time to nab Pro-R. :naughty:

  • Christmas in July

Sorry. Get Pro Q-2 and Pro C-2 for basic tracking. You already have Pro Q-2
    Then Pro-L.

When I was only working on the iPad I bought all the Fabs. For basically the same price as buying one of them for computer.

  • OK - thanks @Reid and @Kranick .

    I feel educated now.

  • D’oh! I just bought Pro-R four days ago.

  • Just an opinion. Any Fab-Purchase is a good purchase. All their products are very high level.

    +1

Sound advice and by all (most?) accounts the Correct Order. I've been holding off on Pro-L as, rather dishearteningly, nothing is finished and ready for mastering. Will jump in before August 1st, which appears to be the end of sale...

My personal favourite is Saturn. I think it's worth checking the demos for these FabFilters. Dan Worrall has powers.

  • My personals, (I have them all,) Pro-L does wonderful things when mastering. It just provides this lovely..... something. Pro-R is a wonderful, wonderful reverb. Then probably Pro-Q. Pro-C is an excellent compressor, but there are other good ones. Still my favourite.

Saturn and Timeless are superb. If you do electronic music in particular, wow. They are the shit. Now, I don't have a lot of other distortion or time bending plugins, but I'm constantly amazed at what they do.

  • Saturn is amazing. I discovered that it can give life to lacklustre Overloud patches, by the way. Highly recommended.

  • Pro-L, Pro-R, and Pro-Q are my choices. Crazy prices for those tools, crazy I say.

  • Interesting (and wholly understandable) that a lot of the sound pros here go for L,R and Q etc, whereas some of us who play with sound more than fully understand it favor Timeless, Saturn and my own guilty pleasure Volcano...

  • Unbelievable prices!

  • I love Timeless, don't get me wrong, probably my favorite delay plug in and I'm a delay junky. :)

Yes, and few others seem to list the excellent Pro-MB, which was the first FF I got and the one I use the most.

I've heard a lot of very positive stuff about MB. Wish I was smarterer (and more patient) to make the most of it. Must say (and perhaps this is considered a little further down the Fab food chain) I also use MicroWarmer a lot and find it rewarding...

I think many recommend Pro-Q2 first, because it really is one of the best EQ's on the planet, but also relatively easy on the CPU, obviously a huge plus on the IPad. The only thing I don't own is Pro-R (simply for lack of funds), but this is too good to pass up. As for order, I agree there is no bad choice, it all depends on what you're doing. Bread and butter (Pro-anything) vs sound design. Timeless, Saturn, and Volcano are just incredible, and as deep as the ocean in ways to mangle your sound. (I advise watching the tutorials on the Fab-Filter site: they're top-notch and provide great overviews of what each Plugin in the lineup can do).

Pro MB is very handy on drum loops or on drum tracks that are mixed to stereo (since many iOS drum apps can't output stems). You just use it like an EQ, but because it's dynamic it's much better than an EQ for beefing up a kick or taming cymbals. No smartness required.

It's also pretty handy for adding life to acoustic guitar recordings.
