  • Now I'm getting more used to BM3, I'm really starting to appreciate the banks for creating grooves. Let's say you have your basic beats (hi-hats, percussion included) down. Now you want to put the bass in. You can just draw in the bass the same way that you would if you were doing a drum beat to make it part of the groove. Then when you have something with the right rhythm, switch to the piano roll and set the notes. This is such a fast, intuitive way of working.

It also works for other melodic instruments. Want a piano in there. Do the same thing, then when the rhythm fits the groove, switch to the piano roll. Want to bring a piano in - simply drag some tom toms up to the piano line, so the rhythm stays the same, but you're switching up the instrumentation.

    Hi there,

does anybody use Modstep to sequence BM3 ?

I'd like to do it the same way I can do it with Cubase : that means being able to control separately each instrument / Channel.

The idea would be to sequence instrument / channel "A" with the first track on modstep and instrument "B" with the second track on modstep and so on.

And I don't know how to do it right now, feeling highly frustrated :)

    thx.

I tried. BM3 currently has broken/bugged midi input so at max it will reliably sequence only the selected bank and pad. Once it gets fixed I will definitely use modstep since bm3's sequencer is a bit lacking for me.

Btw. You can sequence each pad per bank. So you can technically do 1024 layers controller via modstep. Not sure modstep supports that many layers. Plus your iPad might catch fire.

Lol thank god it wasn't just me. I spent several hours yesterday and it was only sending midi to one pad on the bank.
