iPad 2017 9.7
So I was thinking about upgrading from my mini 2.
Is it a good iPad ? Should I do it ?
Comments
Did the same upgrade. Best option right now.
The 9.7" 2017 model is really powerful; you get a lot of grunt for your money. The screen is a minor step back compared to the Air 2. Have a look in an Apple store to check if you care about that.
I'm curious about something. While the screen is a step back is the processor more powerful ? I know the a9 is a dual core versus the air2 tricore but the benchmarks are a bit confusing....
It's overall a bit faster than the Air 2. Quite a bit in single-core performance, not much in multi-core performance. It also has a better batterylife (significantly bigger battery) than the Air 2. If you're upgrading from an Air 1 or older it's worth getting the new one, I'd say.
Interesting. If these pro 10.5 and 12.9 headphone issues don't get sorted I might actually grab a 128 gb 2017 iPad then. O oy reason I'm thinking of upgrading is cause the 64gb is choking me.
I have recently bought an iPad 2017 with 128Gb storage purely for Music creation apps and it's a great option and not too expensive. My old iPad Mini 2 (32Gb) still runs everything great, I just kept running out of space.
Yeah I'm working with a 16 gb. Mini 2. I've found a decent price 128 gb. 2017 9.7. I think I'm gonna do it !
So from what I'm hearing here it is a good upgrade. Does anyone know how much ram it has?
I'm also looking at some pro 9.7 refurbs. How much of a bump up is that ?
Thanxxx
Thumbs up for the 2017 model. Maybe not as chic as the Air 2 but not too expensive, sturdy and yes... way better batterylife.
I would say the only reason I went with the iPad Pro 2017 12.9" version is I needed something for sheet music and the fact 128gb was choking me.
Hoping this f-ing iPad headphone jack thing can be sorted soon.
I went from an Air1 to a 2017 iPad and am super super happy with it, particularly in that I did not feel completely gouged paying for a screen I honestly can't tell much difference with and speakers I will rarely ever use. Jumping between apps and doing the occasional reboot are super super fast. I love this thing. Having 256gigs would be nice for sure and once 'Files' in ios11 (and up) becomes better and more supported by devs etc then sure, I may one day dive in to the ultra high end ipads. Particularly if apps like BM3 are any indication of the new quality bar (talking features and not bug count). It would have been almost double the price for me to get 256gigs and just not worth it at this stage of iOS, to simply have a bigger mess to clean with horrible file management the norm. Yup, I'm lookin' at you Blocs.
Well. it sounds like the iPad 2017 is pretty decent. Think I'm going for it!!!!! Thanxxx
My only question is this; would any of the pro's be better than the 2017 9.7 ?
Yes. But they are a lot more expensive
Best to get for your money.
