DDMF NY Compressor AU opinions?
Hi Just wanted to check reviews of users who have used this?
Currently I use AUFX push .. but its not in AU format?
I want an AU compressor
I tried Rough Rider.. it was terrible ... completely changed my sound/Non transparent.. maybe that's what its going for... so cant complain...
Comments
RoughRider is not terrible. A NY Compressor will not be what you are looking for.
I reckon that you mean, NY compressor is similar to rough rider ..non transparent...
when I said rough rider was terrible - even when the comp was not engaged it changed the sound of my audio....
Any compressor with a mix knob can be used for NY compression aka parallel compression.
Klevgrand has some nice AUs https://klevgrand.se/products/
NY compressor does subtle non NY compression too - it's a great versatile AUv3 comp
What are you using as a host?
Most iOS hosts/Daws (-AB) offer vanilla compression solution if you are not sure what you want.
Distortion is a different ballgame.
that could be a non-sample accurate implementation, for example a lookahead (or some other internal) buffer still active and displacing audio streams.
May not even be the fault of the plugin, but the host - it's a tricky thing, no kidding.
IOS is a pita in this context as checking for timing at the sample level is virtually non-existent.
I'm considering a dedicated topic on this for some time, so don't get too deep into off-topic here.
I tried it with Garageband for IPHOne and AUM, since GB comp has no signal level indicator, also I use only GB and AUM for my workflow on IPHONE
On IPAD I have cubasis .. so no new issues there .. happy with the inbuilt solution
