Bias amp = crackle city?

Ipad pro12.9. Tried to open it in auria a few times and wouldn't load. Works in aum. Tried on my iphone 6 plus and even standalone i was getting crackles. In aum i get lots of crackles. Took it out and ran several plugins, all of them worked.

  • What are you using as an audio interface? What iOS version? What are the latency settings?

On ipad i used zoom u-24. On phone i used apogee one. 64 and 128 latency on auria (not hitting more than 70% on cpu) but it didn't even load well. Both aum's were on lowest latency. Latest ios.

  • I've only ever used an iConnectMIDI4+ or an iRig HD. The former has given me some trouble with earlier iOS releases. Do you get crackles when connecting directly to BIAS Amps (i.e., not via Auria or any other host)?

Lowest Latency = higher crackles. Did you try increasing latency? My iPad Air 2 handles it no problem with iRig Pro HD interface.

Afaik 70% load on an A10X CPU means that 2 of the 3 active processing cores are fully exhausted (66%). Maybe some CPU/OS specific trouble, as I never experienced crackles on a Mini-2 od Air-2 with BIAS.
On the other hand I ceased updating Positive Grid apps long ago, when reports of inferior sound quality increased.

  • Having no trouble on most recent iOS on Air 2, most recent version of Bias with Apogee Jam 1 or iRig Pro Duo.

Seems to be a recurring theme that none of the pros can handle something the air 2 can handle with no issues. The newest pros are particularly useless for music since just plugging in headphones for 15 mins causes the audio to crackle and pop. @vpich are you using the new 12.9 ?
