iPhone 5s only 1gb ram again...

Yeah that's a bummer to say the least..
Really odd decision ?
Can't innovate anymore my ass ?
I really think that 1gb on the iPhone will definitely be enough for a couple of more years. It's on the iPad with all the bigger daws like Auria, Cubasis and so on that RAM will be an issue if Apple skimp out on it on the iPad 5.
While 1GB of RAM may seem like a real letdown, at least older devices wont see a huge push of new apps that they cant use because of a 2GB RAM requirement. It's not all bad.
It might be worthwhile to remember that we (musicians) are a tiny tiny part of the ios ecosystem. One gig of ram is plenty for most of the things most people do with their phones or even their iPads. Phone calls, email, web, scrabble, angry birds, texting, photos... Why would they overbuild the product and make less money? I mean, I want more ram too but I can hardly blame them for building a product for the 90%. That's what Apple has always done: build and execute really really well for 80-90% of the use cases and to hell with the rest. It's precisely, for me anyway, what makes their products good.
@Galaxyexplorer can we have an update once you take the plunge ?
If the 5s had 2GB of RAM, what the heck could they add to the 6
...a larger screen ! But do 64bit apps not need more ram? I'm no expert. However, i will never get an ipad and life is short and a year is long... so i ordered a 64gb "Space" grey (what else for a Galaxyexplorer;) 2 weeks now to try iOS 7 on my iPhone 5 (still on iOS 6.1.4). Because on the new device there is no chance for downgrade!
@galaxy would love to hear how the lack of a ram boost affects overall musical decisions.
The biggest killer of my flow on ipad 4 was lack of ram using effects chains etc within Auria....
.
...because i'm a mobile hardcore I also just want one idevice which fits in my pocket. There are some other reasons too... however... a 5" smartphone would be perfect for me. Also my neck is damaged a lot...
Ultra portable studio too, some can hold it in both hands for hours whilst on a sun lounger absorbing the rays B-) with little to no fatigue crafting a track.
...O.K.... i updated now my iPhone 5 to iOS7.0 and...... it's terrible yet! A lot apps crashing and i can't update the apps too. Means new install.... f...... UI = pfui. And all othet things are also wrong...Date, Time, F....Y..... Apple!
@Galaxyexplorer very sorry to hear you're having troubles. This hasn't been my experience at all. I've heard good things from lots of others around as well (like here: http://forum.audiob.us/discussion/2003/do-we-have-a-volenteer#Item_111). Hopefully a fresh install will help you see better days. I'd restore as new personally.
....yes, worked.... but now it takes a lot time to get all my things back But this seems to happen with every major update... to me! Perhaps i was a bit to harsh. (After spending a week in hospital i need to make a track NOW
Cheers!
That's good news. At least your on the right track now. Hopefully a smoother experience for you this time around.
