  • Hmm. Does the full paid version still come with pop-up ads?

  • Yes, which is irritating. However, It is a great tool aside from that, and I'm glad I have it installed on my system. :-) .....but I admit that the ads are very irritating! :-(

  • One really wonders why they keep doing that...no-one else does it, everybody hates it, and you already have the advertising on the splash screen, so users can't be unaware of the existence of the iRig or whatever.

Why would a professional, high quality outfit want to stoop to a cheap, two-bit operator type scheme like that?

  • Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...

  • has great samples like a duck...

  • Meh. I don't want to be interrupted rudely every time I open an app I paid for. I'll stick to soundfont libraries on BS-16i.

One of these days I will actually get that app, figure out how soundfonts work and hopefully be very happy. Until that day, I'm okay closing the pop-up.

  • I have and love both, but both serve different purposes for me. :-)

  • @jessie_ohio - BS-16i is a totally different beast and well worth the cost. It has 16 different channels and a very expressive keyboard

  • It would be nice if they discounted the IAPs as well some time.

  • @Audiojunkie I'm curious what purpose Sampletank serves for you in comparison to BS-16i + Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra soundfont library.

  • @shortbus They both do about the same thing, but Sampletank has a ton of flexible high quality instruments neatly packaged and available for use in one nice interface. I could probably find similar or equivalent sounds for the BS-16i if I looked (and probably more too). However, for me, I use the BS-16i for custom sounds that I don't have elsewhere. I have an excellent ARP Solina soundfont library that I bought 10 years ago that serves me very well when I want that instrument. Also, the BS-16i has LOTS of choices for doing GM Midi. I find that I use Sampletank as my general music location, and BS-16i for more specialized things. I hope that makes sense.... :-)

  • By the way, there are several companies that sell excellent high quality soundfont libraries! Want the sounds of all of the Emu products? Check out Digital Sound Factory. I have several of their products, and I had a good experience with them. There are several other dealers around too. Also, I've found that I can use Guitarism to drive Sampletank and the BS-16i and use custom guitar sets with great success too! :-) Fun!

  • I've converted and transferred all the best sounds from Sampletank on my PC to soundfonts in bs-16i on my iPad. I have less and less use for Sampletank on my iPad every day.

  • How do you convert them @PaulB?

  • Extreme Sample Converter 3 converts between most sample formats. I convert individual instruments to SF2 format, then use Soundfont Librarian to amalgamate them into banks of presets that can be transferred to my iPad and loaded into bs-16i.

  • I'll take a look. Thanks @PaulB.
