I've been having a lot of trouble since updating to 10.3.3. My Air 2 port is lint-free, my charger and audio interface work fine, but my official Apple 'camera connection' kit I use for my MIDI keyboard will take 10-15 tries for it to function with no error message. There is no short in the connection cable; I can toss it around as I please once it starts working.

I've done an initial Google on solutions, but not many suggestions other than rebooting with the cable plugged into the lightning port. That hasn't been a success. Anybody else share a similar problem and know of a cure?

  • Powered USB hub solves the issue but is extra gear you may not prefer.

Mr. Haq has a long video (search YouTube haq + USB) that explores the usb2 CCK (original) and the usb3 CCK (has USB + lightning port for charging). The ordinal can supply more power it seems.

  • I fixed this when getting the same error, by using a shorter cable.

  • Get Novation Audiobox interface and have heaven setting up. No fuss Reliable.

Or an iConnectMidi4 or a Korg Plugkey

There is a new powered USB3 camera connector. It charges your iPad as you work too...

This connector also lets me power a nice quality USB mic from the iPad Pro 10.5.

Place a simple unpowered USB hub between cck and your midi keyboard and problem solved.

  • if the device has an external dc socket you can try to plug in it a battery while you connect to cck than disconnect the battery . It worked with a keystep on ipad2

  • Thanks, all

  • Shorter cable as MonzoPro points out ,don't know why but it worked fine for me

  • With the advent of fingerprint unlock I wouldn't be surprised if my iPad one day responds 'sorry you are no longer supported by this iPad'

  • Yes, you are not the only one who has encountered this problem.

After listening to my friend's suggestion to update iOS to the latest version, the problem that accessory may not be supported on iPad is solved.
