@ChriG Yes, if I launch NLog.
@ChrisG Closing in will suffer audio drop outs if used without launching another app first:
Quoting myself from yesterday:
"yes i can confirm this is happening. When i open another audio app first Cotracks' CPU load looks normal, but when Cotracks is running all alone the CPU hits red and i can observe audio drop outs. This happens only when i'm playing the demo song called "Closing in"."
I believe this happens because that particular demo session is too heavy for iPad 2 at buffer size 256 on iOS 7. It plays well on iOS 5 + iPad 2. You were talking about problems with graphics, even when CPU load is low. That i can not reproduce. Please tell me if you find something new about this.
@mgmg4871 Do you have problems with notification center and control center unless you launch other audio app first?
@mfa Ok, then we are on the same page regarding the demo song and buffer size. Sounds good.:)
The graphics on the other hand, I'll shot you a mail via your website or a Facebook message if I can find out what's up with the gfx acting up. For now, I'll chalk it up as some random iOS 7 weirdness.
Anyway, I'm slowly getting into all the features and gotta say I love that fat mono synth (the "mass" slider is ma new best friend), can get some really fat and gritty sounds, great stuff.
One feature request I (if I may lol) have is a dynamics processing effect on the drum part, a limiter/comp kinda thing akin to the one in WeJaam. To make the drums pump a bit more along the fat base sounds you can get with this (obviously that's a future-feature req that probably belongs way down on the to-do list).
@mfa No trouble with notification or control center.
@ChrisG Yes, that's a great idea! Dynamics processing has been overlooked a little bit. That would certainly give a wonderful boost on the beat. And i think there could be a lot of interesting ways of implementing it. Thanks for the suggestion! I don't know if you were aware of this, but we really hope to get requests like yours. There's a feedback form in the online content and support page in the app you can use if you ever want to comment something very quickly. Anything goes really!
Good to hear you can finally get into the app! I love sounds with some resonance on the LPF and a fair amount of drive - some mass usually doesn't hurt.
Some of the sounds have some pretty good XY-pad action. Hope you get to check that out some time.
I'll start thinking about the dynamics stuff. Have fun!
@mgmg4871 Good to hear! Thanks for your help on this and big thanks for putting your troubleshooting witchcraft to use on our case!
@mfa Thanks for your responsiveness. Much appreciated.
@mfa I don't have Cotracks, I was just speculating on what might cause ChrisG's described symptoms.
Cotracks update with Audiobus support just went live. I improved the buffer size handling to take the current device model into account when appropriate. This should put all the above mentioned issues with audio drop outs on iPad 1 and iPad 2 devices into history. Thanks again for your help!
Luv u...(you know what I mean)
Thank you, great update (and a really fast one!). It works like a charm on iPad 2 iOS 7 now, much much less CPU load in general without any real hit on the latency to speak of when trying out the various added buffer options, really great.
Thank you mfa. Great app. Lots of fun.
How do you access buffer options?
@mgmg4871 Session button -> Latency menu
@ChrisG thanks.
I'm happy.
Great, good to hear that from all of you! Please rate the new version when you have a couple of minutes.
Will do.
Left a review in the US store. Hopefully those earlier reviewers experiencing performance issues updates their ratings with this update.
Yeah let's hope so. I doubt it though. The App Store rating and "review" business can be a bit nasty. That's why it's so great you guys bothered to rate and review. Thanks a lot!
It looks interesting but not enough for me to get it now. There are some things that could make me change my mind if they were included:
1. MIDI in with learn function for pads and controls, MIDI CC mapping for dials.
2. Audio sampler/looper
3. Audio FX
4. Universal app so I could have it on the iPhone 5 (which has a faster processor than my iPad)
It does have effects, stereo delay, phaser, distortion/overdrive, hi/band/low-pass filters, EQ.
Universal would be great, obviously the multi-user interface won't work on the iPhone, but the single user mode would fit quite well I think (maybe a wifi/Bluetooth co-op thing could work tho)
Updated to version 1.0.13 :
• Overdub recording - add new notes to sequences by blending
• Swing - nondestructive time and velocity swing control over the whole song or by individual tracks
• Tap tempo - quickly synchronize playback tempo with external music by tapping
• Audiobus 2 support - available on devices with iOS 7 and later
• IAA - Inter App Audio support
Thanks to the devs!
Be good to hear from @mfa, Matti again.
