Hotspot App that works with Ableton Link
This is specifically for Android phone users that want something to help with multiple devices and Ableton Link when no connection is available...
So I don't currently have internet connection at my house. (I know...) I was looking for something to use on my phone ever since Android upgraded to 7.0 and the FoxFi app no longer worked, and I do not have a rooted phone. After searching I found an app that does produce WiFi from your phone called (specifically)Netshare-no-root-tethering. I downloaded it and successfully connected two iPads to my phone, both iPads hooked up to a Launchpad Pro each. One iPad was running Launchpad app with link, and the other ipad running 6 different link apps in audiobus, including the MIDI Link Sync app syncing with Launchpad out>guitar pedals and looper. I jammed out with it hooked up for solid hour and a half, even Facebook streaming with the same phone at some point and it never lost the Link. Another thing to note is that I was able to browse App Store, but unable to download any apps or IAP. The other minor downside is you have to manually connect it every time you want to use it with a different password and proxy, it doesn't just click on and connect. A little price to pay for convenience I suppose... I'm not sure about model or carrier compatibility, but it works so well I bought the full version. I'm in US with Sprint as my carrier with an unlimited data plan. I promise I am not working for the developer to try to promote the app, and not quite sure if this post is even appropriate
, just wanted to share something that might also help somebody out in a similar situation. Could also be used in a show gig jam situation to use Ableton Live when WiFi is not available...Im enjoying it until we get internet here again. Cheers! I hope this helps somebody!

Whats the peoblem with using a normal tethering on android(or where ever)? Its built in android, so you dont need any apps for it.
Yes, there has been built in tethering option on Android for some time...but you have to pay for it as well as hotspot depending on your carrier and plan. An app called foxfi used to do this for free for years until android 7.0 killed it. This is the only solution I've found for my temporary situation, and it works with Link. That's why I shared.
Got a Huawei Mifi box works a treat. Brought it for internet onboard a ship whilst abroad but works great for Link. They are cheap as chips now on eBay.
