STORAGE NUMBERS
What is that about?
iPad Air2.
As I am doing some online commerce I have my iPad open as I attempt to free up space and I see this anomaly as far as I am concerned.
NOT 1 pic. NOT 1 video. 2.03 GB?
Is that normal?
Then geez, Module is a whopping 1.38. I never realized the monstrosity that was. I don't think I use it but once a month.
Any way, never enough storage.
And is it not crazy that PPG apps barely leave a scratch and the power they have and then you have other ones that are silly CPU or Size hungry.
Wolfgang and some others need credit for the true skill they have and mahny people never realize it.
ADD morning here. What was this thread about?
Oh, my camera sized with no pics or vids.

There is a Recently Deleted album that retains deleted pix for something like 30 days. Did you empty that?
The 'space' those files used to take is marked 'free/purgeable' to the file system so it will be used again when needed and the temp-files will automagically get deleted.
As far as I know iOS only purges those files when it needs to. ie. it doesn't do auto-purge unless it absolutely needs to...
I have to check.
What is the measure that dictates the purge of material?
Is it device model based or Apple as a policy?
Apps should mark 'temp/cache files'(or files that have been deleted by the app ) as purgeable.
For me this has been working quite well 'automagically'. I had like 150MB free and was able to download a huge game (Asphalt 8) without any problems. The temp-files/cache got purged...
Sometimes apps show 'cleaning' when iOS purges caches (I've seen this happen for FaceBook, Messenger and Instagram to name a few).
I kinda get the 'purge when needed'. It's better to use the space (for caches etc) and free it when needed rather than manually try to keep it clean
I've almost stopped caring about how much space I have left on my device.
(I've seen my iPhone 5 have around 400MB free one day and the next day it's >2.5GB free and I take a lot of pictures with it).
Set the date back on your device by years (think first ever iOS photo)
Go check your photos
I can't remember where I originally saw this fix for full instructions, but this seems to be similar

The intention may be that iOS will manage the hidden space for you, but my niece's iPad continually complained about space ( https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/uk-space-agency/about/complaints-procedure ) until we deleted 9GB this way.
