but they did not offer the same thing again. they completely rethought the interface and added a ton of features. all for a one time 3.99 -- it is now among the best on iOS imho, and feels like it could cost twice as much and still be a bargain.
Yes, the same for me. And to be candid, I really don't need anything more than Procreate and Concepts. But, I'm thrilled this thread has hit me over the head and reminded me of why I originally bought my first iPad, ie. graphic work. I haven't done anything in awhile and need to get back to that soon.
I mentioned my favor of the non-bluetooth Adonit Jot Pro for overall drawing, etc. but there are so many apps now targeting specific functions at the new Apple Pencil, I may have to consider one myself. Probably to wait as looks like a good holiday gift request, and I really don't need one at the moment. Still, I'd like to see what some of these graphic app developers have been doing with their pencil function integration.
Still burned that I already paid for the "Pro" version once, but good to know it's still alive at least. To be honest, I don't really need any more graphic apps. As I mentioned in my previous post, I pretty much am completely covered with just Procreate and Concepts. I can't imagine Sketchbook has anything more to bring to the party. But, who knows... if it's only $4 and I get that itch to have to buy something again maybe I'll give it another look. thx
This is true. I didn't really get on with the old version but the new one is really good
I just revisited this. It's $4.99, but if you want access to all the updates and "pro" features, it says you have to buy a membership/subscription. No thanks. I'm good with what I've got.
I think you can choose the one or the other? one time payment or subscription --
unless they've changed it. the additional features of the subscription are are other apps as far as I know (sketchbook desktop and sketchbook motion)
I was considering re-buying this one for $3.99 based on your's and @jn2002dk 's recommendations. Unless I read it wrong multiple times, it looks like you buy it for $4.99, but if you want updates and access to pro features, you have to unlock those with an additional $4.99 monthly subscription or $29.99 annually. If that's the case, I'll definitely pass. Like I mentioned, I've already got a full palette of great drawing/painting apps that I haven't even been using much lately.
Though, to get back on topic I'm REALLY excited for Procreate 4. They've been targeting the cinema market for a good while, and I read a rumor that the new version may include some form of rotoscoping. That'd be HUGE and very exciting if true.
+1, not just me then.
Procreate is excellent, I should use it more really. Great news about the free update too.
The subscription is for features across desktop and iOS versions afaik. I don't pay for it
Hmmm... it does look like they're trying to slowly herd users toward a subscription-based scenario though. In the app description the terminology is vague with regard to the subscription model. It implies that updates and new features may only be accessible to subscribers. Meh, I think I'm good for now, but thanks for the clarification.
Since we are totally offtopic anyway..... I recently upgrated Corel Painter for desktop. Absolutely the best painting software IMO. I hope they port that one to iOS one day.
One of my first apps on ipad and i dont know how to draw but the UI is great, and work very good for photos and layers
You can stream your iPad wirelessly (or wired) to multiple places at once like Twitch Creative https://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Creative# and Youtube. I made an eBook explaining how, and you can buy it on iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/id1315367781 or Gumroad https://gumroad.com/l/streamipad.
I also have a tips and tricks book for Procreate 4 on iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/us/book/id1308813497 and Gumroad https://gumroad.com/l/streamipad. Thanks for your support!
I have a lot of them too, and IMHO if you like the best combo easy-drawing-photo tools the winner is ArtStudio.
Fortunately, there are a lot of good apps out there (I already own most of them, like Procreate, Inspire Pro, ArtRage, Sketchbook Pro, Graphic, Sketchbook, Inkpad, the "old" Brushes, etc.)
Sadly, I'm under iOS 10 so...
