Orchestral Music on Korg Gadget? (Advice needed.)
So, I plan to create a symphonic orchestral styled piece of music in Gadget (something very symphonic) given how unstable AUs can be at times. At least I plan to work on creating the basic voicings, melodies and counterpoints, and so on and so forth that can technically be transferred to iSymphonic. So here are my questions.
Have you used Gadget in the past to create symphonic/orchestral music?
If yes, which patches in which gadgets would you recommend? (I know Darwin is chock full of sounds, but I'm more curious to know which particular ones you'd recommend personally.)
Any advice and help would be more than welcome. Thanks in advance.

Korg iM1 is your friend.
That's the Darwin gadget, btw.
There is an "Orchestra" card.
Also try wavestation/milpitas, but it's harder to get to raw sounds.
A few other gadgets might work… Madrid, Gladstone, module (Salzburg, Glasgow, Alexandria)
Remember to turn off the "chord" button for pure sounds.
imo, gadget might not be the best for this. transitioning well with held notes over 16 bar patterns into another will probably be disjointed. and the weakest sounds are the orchestral ones, nothing i would use except maybe a mellotron, but that wouldn't be for an orchestral track. anything orchestral in gadget would probably sound super gm/kitschy. exporting midi might make the results too choppy, requiring a lot of editing once you get it into isymphonic,...not sure about that.
i understand wanting to use gadget for everything, it's so stable but gadget's strength is best for loopy stuff, or at least music with block parts, which symphonic stuff normally isn't.
maybe cubasis would be better for this.
Blargh, lol. That's the one thing I'm trying to avoid as Cubasis crashes ad nauseum. At least the only thing I contend with in Gadget is the strange sound buffer issue (which simply requires me to unplug/replug my headphones).
The symphonic-styled piece would be like a crossover between that and EDM, so by nature it'll be loopy. It DOES suck, however, that Gadget limits us to 16 bars at a time.

Oh I'm quite aware of the various Gadgets. I'm just curious as to what sounds you thought were the best sounding of them all.
You should check out symphony pro, It's great for just that, especially if you are into notation, if not you can play your parts as well, then export the midi into pretty much whatever you like....
Symphony Pro by Xenon Labs, LLC

If you set the scene timing to 8/4 you can double your pattern length.
With the right effects and an expressive controller with things like velocity and sustain you can get some very rich textures out of many of the synths in Gadget.

Hadn't thought of that. Good tip
Symphonic? Notion
You can always play gadget thru bm3 it's very stable and you are unlimited by gadgets limits.
Music Studio by Alexander Gross might suit your needs. I ...it does contains lots of orchestral instruments and a sampler
This is an interesting app. I think it was the first of its kind. Then FL pretty much copied it exactly, adding some decent presets, and then abandoned it for FLMS3. At the same time Cubasis launched its version of this exact same app concept. I think Cubasis is the better way to go over Music Studio though.
Good call ! I was just flicking g through my iPhone apps and remembered it was Music studio which contained lots of orchestral instruments . TBH, I hadn't used it for ages but on opening ...it's an extremely powerful app for iPhone especially with iaa.
I'd be really interested in the results. Please share.
I guess I'd use the best of Marseille and Glasgow and Darwin and Milpitas. You can create some amazing sounds with Milpitas that go beyond traditional instruments but at the same time can sound 'organic'.
I just loaded Roland sound canvas on 16 pads and it was wonderful. If your looking for orchestra you can give that a chance. It's not au but works great in bm3 midi
