MusicIO latency issues on win7-32 with Reaper

Hi folks,
I'm just discovering MusicIO and I'm excited to take some GREAT sounds from my IOS devices in to my recordings in Reaper.
But ...... But ..... the latency!
The latency settings don't seem to make any difference.

The sound is great, just about half a second behind. Any suggestions for reducing it?

It's possible that the problem is this 8 year old laptop I'm using,

Or, are there any new and improved options at this point?

Anyway, I'd love to get this working better.

thanks!
Rusty

  • I don't know Reaper, but does it have any sort of plugin latency compensation that could be disabled? That sort of thing could mess with buffers/latency. I can tell you latency has not been an issue for me on a Mac with DP. But of course none of that applies directly to your situation.

  • I assume you're using ASIO, not the regular PC audio, drivers?

  • Another vote for ASIO, my PC's unusable for music without it.

  • Will ASIO make a difference even with a vst plugin? I assumed that only made a difference with audio in and out.
I do use ASIO when I plug in my audio interface, but if I'm just doing some quick edits or experimentation in Reaper often I'll just plug in my headphones and run Reaper with the wave out audio system on the laptop.
that's how I've been testing MusicIO. I understood that they designed it with a VST interface to get away from issues with ASIO ETC.

I'll definitely try it now with ASIO and through my interface.
Also, I'll look for settings with VST or plugin latency.

    thanks folks!
