  • This is gonna be interesting. I have iPad Pro 12,9, iPad Air and IPhone 6se.
I'm also hunting for new and unusual ideas on how to utilise my equipment to the fullest and weirdest ways...

  • One sometimes has only drums machines going on whilst two has bass/ synths etc- all through effects - (ios and external Korg Kaoss pads) and each having a channel on a digital recorder- I will often jam like this (if you can call one person with two imaginary band members jamming :) ) I find I can get some hitherto unplanned but decent material by accident as well as having fun. I will then return the digital recording to AudioShare and take out the good bits- normally in Blocs Wave.

Sometimes I will split my drum track writing up- iPad one has bass, snare and hats -iPad two has all the rest- both will then have their own effects experimentation to see if anything good turns up- iELECTRIBE with two Shapers seems to be the favourite at the moment for me.

I also like to use Turnado a lot. Using two at the same time on separate linked pads is a bit of a handful at times- but there can be a heaven and hell element to this.

Often I will play about with Figure on one and iKaossilator on another- manipulating both at the same time.

    Right!

One simple use... have KRFT on one and Egoist and Turnado on the other. Midi learn that stuff via Appolo bluetooth midi and make an awesome surface in KRFT.

  • i have a 12.9 pro and one of the new 9.7 inch plain ipads. i also use my iphone 6s plus---the phone takes everything i throw at it like a champ. i used it for apps like future drummer or just for the headphone jack into my iconnect 2 plus. i use the smaller ipad to send midi and the pro to do the rest. sometimes i throw ableton into the mix

My iPhone 7 handles everything better than my Air1 and Ai2 2.

MY AIR 1 SEEMS LIKE IT HANDLES THINGS BETTER THAN MY AIR 2.

I don't know why, but it is what it is.

Less crashes and less issues on Air 1 for me.

I use iPad Air 2 as primary, Air 1 as secondary(AB remote for sure), iPhone 7 as a microphone/vocal recorder, and other multiuses.

Novation Audiobox is my preferred the iConnect doesn't make me as happy. Really don't use it.

  • how are you all syncing both iPad's to each other?

  • Link over WLAN

    Several ways to sync.

But, just to get the first thing since it is not in photo. Connecting the 2 iPads audio via:

You have a very big knob there

  • So is anyone syncing 2 ipads to computer / DAW?
I wonder how it is done If you don't have Live as a DAW? - so therefore link is not an option
I have an 12.3 and an air2, and would love to sync them to Reaper - get them all locked up together and singing :|

I have no idea on syncing.

I have done some rudimentary tasks with Acid believe it or not but nothing more than simple shit.

I guess that is the pure genius of LINK, right?

    They nailed it.

Right place, right time, right idea.

It has secured an Ableton following that will leave them on top for ages is the ios music world grows as it is and integrates even more advanced production technology as the devices can handle it.

That is a very minimalist and clever set up. PM some music you make with that.

    Love to hear it.

I am looking to reduce the app clutter and "too many options" feeling, hence this thread.

Trying to do what you did but with what I need most.

Thanks for the insight into your set up.

  • Is there an Irig-type cord to link two Ipads together, with two males and one femle for the headphones?

You need more than a cord

    If you didn't know.

Interesting position to be in if you are another company I suppose.

All good as far as I am concerned.

If not for LINK multiple IOS devices would not be so easy to do.

  • With most of us having 2 or 3 ithings lying around I'm surprised not many are using them linked via a wireless network. Even iPad 2nd generation will run some kind of drum machine or groovebox app without a problem and setting up link is as easy as turning it on, even between two devices as long as they're on the same network.

    Agree.

I am using the 2 iPads for music and the iPhone for AB remote/MIDI designer or vice versa.
