iKaossilator for ambient?

Can iKaossilator work well for ambient or SFXy tracks, or does it mainly limited to the EDM wheelhouse?

You could use it for ambient, though it definitely wouldn't be my first choice for that. It all depends on how you play the sounds, being that the y position has different effects. In ikaossilator you have to "mix" by choosing the right sounds and playing them in places where they gel

  • Instant ambient direction: host it in Audiobus or AUM, then drench your iKaossilator creation it in a tasty reverb like AUFX Push

  • It can be done, but there are better options. Such as Droneo, Refraktions and Gestrument.

Thanks very much, I will check those out. In general, I like apps that are musically expressive and responsive to my input, as opposed to apps that compose the music for me. I also like apps that will create a complete musical experience. Examples would include Seline and Figure. Seline in particular is quite expressive and musically deep.

Seline is excellent. Among my favourites.

Do you have animoog? Sounds like you'd enjoy it.

All three of those are excellent apps, but I think that Gestrument in particular will blow you away.

Thanks guys. Does Moog ever have sales? I would definitely buy Animoog at a lower price.

Yes, Animoog is very occasionally on sale. So keep checking your wish list. When you get it, the Grateful Dead pack is fab for ambient work. The synth, Magellan, would also be excellent for your purpose.

I second the greatness of the Grateful Dead IAP. It sounds so good. Unlike the band, it never sounds like the Hillbilly Bear Jamboree.
