Problems with GarageBand and AudioUnits

I am running an iPad model April2017 with 128 GB, iOS 10.3.1.
I am using GarageBand and I tried 2 AU plugins, both of them cause problems.

iSymphonic:
After adding an iSymphonic track using AU, GarageBand won't load the project again. Tried this several times. This seems only to happen if I already have several tracks (with GB includes instruments) going.

Arturia iSem: Function Mix - well, thats how it's called in german, trying to guess how it is named in english. When trying to turn the MIDI track into a radio/WAV track, notes are cut down in length

Any ideas how to repair this?

  • Have you tried other AU’s with success? Both of the ones you mentioned here are known to be problematic in general.

no, These are the ones I got and I thought it would not be worth it buying more with these AU-problems happening.
Which AU synths could be a good replacement for Arturia iSem?

Check out Poison 202... Great AU synth!

  • Poison 202 looks good. I'll check it out.
Still waiting for Animos to go AU.
And Synthmaster would be cool, too.
I'd even be ready to pay for AU as an inApp purchase as long as I could finally get it for my favorite synths.
And now that I am at it. IK could make VocaLive AU, please.

  • Just saw that Wolfgang Palm's WaveMapper supports AU.
Anyone with experience here, whether it stable when being used as AU?

I have no problems with it, though I have my eyes on his new “Infinite” synth.

Also if you are using GB give the included Alchemy a good look. It can get a lot done.

Synthmaster AU is supposed to be under development but it’s been pushed back several times. I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one.

Kaspar also is good one, sounds may not blow you away. But the AU implementation is very accessible and leads to creative things.

Phosphor is cool beans but I haven’t pushed it hard yet.

    Ruismaker FM....highly recommended

I adore Alchemy. I had the original app from Camel Audio. I loved it so much that switched from my old PC to Mac&Logic.
But something like Synthmaster would be a great AU add on for me. Lots of sounds for my style of music

  • I wonder if this may have improved with the latest iOS 11?

  • I had this, you can either delete the au apps, load the project and save, or if you have an iPhone without the apps, save to cloud, open on iPhone, change the instruments and save back to cloud, then open again on iPad.
