Using iPad live w/other gear
Hi there. Long time lurker, first time poster. I've gotten lots of ideas from browsing this forum and would appreciate your help.
I've been making electronic tracks on my iPad for quite a while, using Gadget to build up basic tracks, and then adding other stuff in a DAW.
Recently my normally more guitar based band decided to try and take this electronic stuff out live. Our current set up uses an iTrack dock (which I originally bought just for recording) to send the Gadget tracks via DI to the PA and also to allow one member to play certain parts within the Gadget track live via a Novation LaunchKey (connected and powered via the docks usb midi port).
However, we also have a MicroKorg, which is used for a mixture of string type patches and arps. It's all too easy to trigger an arp slightly out of time, which completely throws everyone. I'd really like to sync the Korg to Gadget via MIDI but have little idea how best to accomplish this. Is there an interface that'll do what we're using the dock for AND allow MIDI out to the Korg?
Would really appreciate any ideas. Cheers, Andy.

I know there is an app called Midi Link Sync that works pretty well for sending ableton link to hardware but you would need someway to connect your MicroKorg to the itrack doc via 5pin midi.
Does the iTrack Dock have 5pin midi or just the 1 usb port? My Axiom 49 controller has 5 pin midi ports and it shows up under iOS as Axiom 49 DIN, so I can use that port to send and receive midi from the 5pin midi ports. I use it sometimes to connect my FCB1010 to my ipad. If you already have a midi controller that has both usb and 5pin midi, you could use that along with the Midi Link Sync app to send out the BPM to the MicoKorg.
I do know that they make some 5pin midi to usb cables or little midi-to-usbs that look like little direct boxes that can translate. I had a cheap cable version that broke quickly so I can't recommend a cheap one.
Since I have gotten my iConnectAudio4+ it has solved all of my basic audio/midi routing issues. If you are looking to replace the iTrack doc, check it out. It can charge your ipad as well.
Oohs, thanks for the reply.
Forgive my MIDI newb ignorance - so Gadget won't output MIDI BPM on its own without a routing app?
The dock only has the USB for MIDI keyboard in unfortunately. Have had a quick look at the iConnect and think it might be worth investigation. Thanks!!
