Every Groovebox IAP is an insta-get with smile intact.
Grabbed it, but it's a bit disappointing. If you already have the Drum Booster pack, the Modern Acoustic kit sounds good for an acoustic kit. All of the kits in the new pack sound fairly similar. More distinctly different snares, kicks, tom's and cymbals would make it more appealing.
Can't grumble for the price but I agree. More varied kits would have been nice. Fun none the less.
I like he patterns too but the kits sound great to me could always be better but again we're headed in the right direction.
EDIT: I had to edit my comments here after spending more time with this new drum pack.
The "Set Forget" kit in this new Full Kit Sessions Drum Pack is the exact same kit as "Modern Acoustic" in the Drum Booster Pack. I forget if the Drum Booster was a free Pack or not but regardless this is just lame. There are many other instances of individual drums being duplicated throughout this new pack from existing ones as well but this was the most blatant.
My original point is still true, what can you expect for $2, and the samples do take tuning and effects well, allowing alternate kits to be fashioned. But after experimenting with the pack it really became clear there's very little new here at all. I don't necessarily regret buying the pack but I do feel a big case of REALLY?
One of my favorite things in Groovebox is to spread a drum part over three Drumboxes. Usually kick part, snares (with toms if applicable) and a hi hat/perc part; that way after export of the individual parts to Auria or Cubasis I can swap for a different drum sample if needed (since sample import is along with MIDI sadly missing.)
When GB first cameout I bought it out of curiosity and trying to contribute to the growth of the community...I know AmpifyXNovation isn't a small start up, but when I gel with an app I try to support the devs catalog/new releases. I thought Blocs Wave, which knocked me out after giving it a chance, would continue to be the idea/composition "groovebox" that I'd use most and I'd use Groovebox for its drum & keyboard sounds.
That's totally changed now as GB is just so cool to experiment with and it's sounds, like most of those in this acoustic drum pack, are good enough to take to a DAW to build on and refine.
