Ruismaker - Troublemaker - Ruismaker FM & Phasemaker Live Session

This was great to do, Ruismaker, Ruismaker FM and Troublemaker all linked with Link with a bit of Phasemaker for some chords all in AUM with some effects...mistakes included

  • Cool!

I did a similar attempt last night but I got a bit worried when I woke up this morning and by iPad's battery was at 11% I did close all the apps before bed-time and 'cleared the ram'(ie. hold down power until it tells me to shut down and then hold down home button until I return to the home-screen).

Link was enabled and I used all the 'maker apps' as IAA's hosted in AUM...

@brambos I don't know what is going on here since Troublemaker does not have any 'Background Audio' switch?!

    I'm on an iPad Air 2, iOS10.3.3...

It runs in the background by default (otherwise it can't receive MIDI, obviously), but if an app is closed it should be closed. So this sounds like a good old case of IAA Zombies, which seem to be getting worse lately.

I had that the other day with Elastic Drums when testing AB3 MIDI. Closed it down but an hour later it still showed up in my list of apps receiving MIDI.

Something else I think I've seen is that when apps are updated via App Store Updates, they are automatically started in the background - and background-capable apps stay active there.

The latest iOS 10.x updates have been more than a bit fishy with IAA and background activity.

Got it, and it does make sense...

I had that the other day with Elastic Drums when testing AB3 MIDI. Closed it down but an hour later it still showed up in my list of apps receiving MIDI.

This is the first time my battery is almost drained in the morning (it was around ~80% when It was time to sleep).

Something else I think I've seen is that when apps are updated via App Store Updates, they are automatically started in the background - and background-capable apps stay active there.

That's very bad default behaviour and something Apple should consider turning off...

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I prefer AUv3's or 'stand alone apps' and try to avoid IAA as much as I can.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm living the updated apps :)

I just finished another epic video this morning, I'll make it live a bit later, it's a full tutorial, Audiobus 3 and about 11 apps, very cool though

You are pushing the limits..........................to BEYOND!

    When is next live show?

  • @thesoundtestroom when you change a patch it went a bit micro tuning/intervally type weird! one of the things i like about synths over playing acoustic is being about to go a bit weird. i've noticed you''ve got some pretty tasty chop on the Joanna too.

@RustiK I'm not really sure how hard the Air 2 was working but I never got any glitches or anything odd going on and everything worked good, plus the forum gets a nice juicy plug too, especially @lukesleepwalker who gave the idea yesterday and was happy to me feature his initial patch preset.

And the next live show is tomorrow (Sunday) at 8.00pm UK time

Looking forward to seeing the vid

  • Maybe a Ruismaker + Ruismaker FM + Troublemaker + Ripplemaker linked episode? The software works really great on the iPad Air 2 ! Except for my trusty old iPad's 3 ... no upper screen or sound when loading Bram Bos apps, which is a pity, they could be dedicated machines in a setup...

Keep up the good work SoundTestRoom :)

  • Yeah, the iPad 3 would probably be powerful enough, but Apple have decided in all their wisdom to block Audio Units on them...
