what are some of your favorite modular synths on ios? I've been playing with Moog model 15, and wondering what else is out there

  • Model 15 is the best. Zmors is also good.

  • I prefer to think of the iPad itself as a modular software environment. It is the modular synth!

  • Model 15 is the glorious king of Touchscreenia.

Ripplemaker is a kickass fairy princess.

Jasuto is the poweeful wizard soon to be bannished to forgotten times. (32bit app incompatible with iOS 11)

  • I love Zmors, KQ Mini Synth is a good simulation of a Modular. Audulus is excellent, with more of a learning curve. Of all 3, Zmors is my favorite for experimentation.

  • Agree with the others add Audulus and my personal favorite iVCS3

  • Analog Kit. It's pure magic in an elementary school discovery sort of way. And the built-in Swap Meet section is an awesome feature for discovering all sorts of new approaches.

  • iVCS3, Audulus, Moog 15, Ripplemaker.

  • AnalogKit as well. I love the container system, so you can hide all of the patch cables when you're ready to play music. i like you can re-use other people's modules without having to understand their inner workings. It is great in audiobus as an effects device. The video synthesis is really cool too.

  • Model 15 by far.

    This!

  • Audulus and Zmors. I really like KQ as well

Hate the Model 15 ui, never sat down and really learned iVCS3

can you send audio through ivcs3 and use it as an effect app in audiobus?

You can edit your discussion and attach a poll to have real votes .For me it's model 15 too , and analogkit (needs an update !). The modular synth of Caustic is fantastic too ;)

  • Zmors modular can actually host Iaa and Au.
It works wonderfully as a host for both ripplemaker and model15.

Model 15 from Moog is Queen of the modular empire.
Ripplemaker is also an ok modular, but that one has the west coast approach, all modules are built in.
A good analogue synth is "mood" from Apesoft, and don't forget iMini. It's fun to turn the knobs of a mini Moog

Cannot find an Analog Kit in the App Store :o

Does it have something to do with this? http://audiokit.io

There's an app called Analog Synth X on AppStore made with this kit. It's free.

However, I couldn't find any Analog Kit there either.

If you are recommending it then I am interested.

  • Analog kit is gone with the wind like a lot of other apps. Thanks god I have bought it before the storm .Anyway I am not sure it will survive to iOS 11 ...Try Audulus or zMors instead

yes, setting is on the 2nd page and even icludes a sampler/player
iVCS3 is my personal favourite, slightly ahead of the Model-15.
Never got the hang of the 'dangling cable paradigm', but I have such a system on PC with DSP hardware support with > 500 different modules. Takes an enormous amount if time...

So it is, gone from the store. Really too bad. There were diehards that really clicked with the app, and went deep, but the prospect of building your own synths and effects from scratch must not have brought in the critical mass of customers they needed to support ongoing development.

I was thinking of learning Pure Data, on the PC, for the kind of science projects I'd use AnalogKit for, because it is a similar, visual modular environment, and seems to have wide adoption and support. There are even some tools for making PD patches into hardware. I haven't used it yet, but MobMuPlat is an iOS player for PD patches.

Edit: there is PDParty for ios as well, another free PD player.

Dammit! That's it....buying a new iPad and time-capsuling this one. Enough is enough.

    Two other modular synths:

    Ops by Jonathan Mackenzie
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ops/id1140110361?mt=8

    rrarrow by Alexey Nadzharov
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rrarrow/id814966319?mt=8

Ops is relatively new and can be targeted in audiobus 3 for midi effects.

  • It's one thing a standard synth disappearing from the App Store but a modular synth is a whole 'nother kettle of fish. I mean you could invest a huge amount of time building your digital sound system over years in one modular environment only for it to disappear.

I know life happens but that does bug me.
