Mackie Onyx BlackJack Users?
Anyone use one of these? Looks sturdy as hell. One question for which I can't seem to find an answer:
Can you use it as a stand-alone mixer/preamp via USB power alone? Or, in other words, does it work as a mini-mixer if you simply plug it into a USB power socket ala phone charger with no computer/ipad involved? Or perhaps a powered hub?

No. I have one and just tested it. You have to hook it up to an iDevice or a computer. However, you don’t actually need to use software on the computer. As soon as it is hooked up, it works. With the “to mon” knob turned all the way up, you can use the BlackJack’s analog-thru function.
So, in theory, you could use any old iPhone or iPad and just plug it in, then let it sit with the screen off.
