Yearly crux - iOS revisions

Here we are at the end of August. After the iOS 8 mess, I made a rule to update my iOS as late as possible, at the end of the yearly cycle right before the newest iOS version is released (a bit of an over-reaction, i admit). So if you are like me, now is the time to get on iOS 10 now that it is at it's finest, and before it disappears in the shadow of iOS 11.

Now, in spite of my cautions, I actually did something I've never done before: iOS betas! I loaded iOS 11.6 beta onto an older iPad Mini retina 2nd gen. And surprisingly it is running really quite well. Snappy, convenient, no lag. I haven't figured out the Files app yet... but it seems great. And wow the Dock is magnificent, quick swipe up in any app makes it easy to switch to any of your docked apps.

iOS 11 Screen recording is absolutely brilliant, wishing I had time to capture and share some of my audiobus sessions. It is a mono audio file, so there has to be some post-production work and have to remember to record a stereo file in AudioShare or similar.

So, with the beta experience going well, I might leave my cautions behind and join the millions on day 1 of iOS 11 wringing their hands as Apple servers grind to a crawl with all the excitement of . shiny and new.
