Auria Pro, for now
I've just spent the better part of an hour trying to get Auria Pro to work. Following the sage advice here, and trying other methods just in case, the app is still failing to split a .wav track correctly. I can mark the area as much as I like, and the next section of .wav after what has been marked is always still included. Now dismissed it from memory in sheer frustration.
It's things like this, which never seem important enough to get fixed, that make me hope Apple - greedy sods that they are - do port Logic Pro X to the iPad. Who knows, it might even work!

Yeah, I can see that. Unfortunately, when I try this, I'm getting the next 'spike' in the .wav included. Other times, like just now, it starts to work again. Grrrrr.
Is your quantise grid on ? It definitely sounds like a grid issue. Show grid please.
Nope, not quantize. This issue, like others, seems to come and go. At the moment it is gone,
As an Auria user who’s about to delve into some audio editing of my own, I’m interested in seeing screen shots as well.
On another note with Auria pro, is anyone else getting issue with AU monitoring in stereo but recording seems to be mono when play back ??
Let me guess: you are using the markee tool (the one that higlights, with a grey color): you highlight what you want, hit “copy” and when you paste, it sometimes pastes a random percentage of what you selected. Right?
Yeah - it’s a known bug, ancient indeed (from the times of Auria non-pro actually). There’s a workaround which will ad an extra step, but will work reliably: you select with the markee, but instead of hitting “copy” you hit “separate”. You use the markee again to highlight all the part you separated and hit “select the highlighted parts”. Then you can hit “copy” and when you paste, it will be correctly pasted. Try it!
Don’t highlight (grey) to copy! It doesn’t work reliably and has been so since the ancient Auria 1.x days. Instead, split/separate what you want to copy, select it (the select parts will be outlined in blue) and then cooy and paste.
Yes, the last time something similar came up, the advice was to use Split. So that is what I was trying to do. Sometimes it was perfect, at other times it took the next adjacent peak in the .wav file. Usually cutting it at an awkward point.
As for selecting, so that outline is blue, that takes the whole .wav file. I only get to use the Sekect HL command if I've highlighted the bit I want in grey.

This is exactly what I mean about stuff not getting fixed. This is a seriously inconvenient bug, that looks like it will never be dealt with.
Then there is the AU3 incompatibility issue...as if AU3 came as a total surprise.
The premier IOS DAW should not be like this.

Typically, what will happen - though not always - is that the selected area in grey, will take the next adjacent .wav peak to the right, beyond the selected area, when either split, cut or copied. Sometimes it will take much more than that. Other times, it will just clip the start of the next .wav peak, which of course requires multiple undo, or reimporting the file just for that mangled section.
I love Auria, but have felt it a bit wonkier than usual of late...hoping for a polish update in the near future...
Yeah, don't get me wrong, AP has some fantastic features. It just needs the bugs squashed, and then bringing up to date a little.
tbh if I consider features versus design flaws, it's a complete rewrite except for the DSP part, which is cool indeed
Not splitting but separating - the workaround I pointed never fails. Other thing: be sure to have snap to zero crossings turned on in Settings>Edit to avoid annoying clicking in the separated regions, or use fades.
Of course, if simply highlighting the region with the grey markee worked properly, Auria would be even more a competition to ProTools for audio editing than it’s already, because just touching and dragging without having to use a “select” command (as in GB) or a “select” tool (as in Cubasis, Auria itself, MTS etc) would be a huge improvement. Unreliable as it is, it’s pure joy when it actually works. I call this an unfulfilled promise. Hope this changes.
Ah, okay, thanks for that. Will have another bash at this malarkey on the morrow.
As for AP markee being made to work, I can understand how any one man band can't do everything at once. But as you say, this is an old issue. The longer stuff like this goes unattended, the less credible AP seems.
Arghhhhh. Just found something else wrong. I uploaded a tack to Dropbox, same way as always. Only, when playing it back I find that there are an additional 3' 15" of silence tagged on the end.
If you bounced in place, it does that. Can't remember the reason, but it was a necessary workaround to avoid cutting something short.
Okay, thanks Rick.
