Cubasis Roadmap

Hi there,

interesting read over at the Cubasis Forums, as expected: http://www.steinberg.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=183&t=47875&sid=c4d729fe083589fd4e44a468dbf7fc9f

IAA is first :)

  • and then with 1.8 Automation :)

    Smart move by Steinberg!
Everyone is demanding Automation to be next in line.
But by giving us the news like this (and iaa), they just bought themselves a couple of months! :)

  • I personally believe they are just shifting their focus and do IAA first since the market is waiting for the first DAW to incorporate this. I suspect this update to hit the Appstore within 3-4 weeks and automation by the end of octobre-mid november.

I really hope we will have sample acurate Midi sync then and a lot of developer jump in.I'm afraid about my most favorite synth -addictive synth-though.It took forever to get this one on the bus :)

btw,Auria will be the first DAW with IAA ;-)

Good move on their part. I've never understood the idea of keeping your customers totally in the dark. An informed client is a happier client. We don't need to know any secrets, just an idea of what we're going to get and approximately when we're going to get it.

    .

  • I think @OliverImseng is spot on with his assessment. I expect things will go down just as he predicts. This will be my expected roadmap:

  • "the market is waiting for the first DAW to incorporate this"...

my money is on Auria. 1.13 should be submitted for review this week I believe they've said.

  • Just read this re cubasis 1.8 from crodhe, I'd not heard the last part before:

We do think a tempo track is important and it will be part of an update in the future. We have a long feature request list and of course we would like to have all possible features inside Cubasis. But as we don't have unlimited resources we have to go step by step prioritising the features and reacting quickly to new technologies (e.g. Audiobus, Inter-App Audio) that we didn't have on scope. If we would have tried to put all thinkable features inside Cubasis starting from v.1.0 Cubasis would not be released yet and would be still in the making.
The good news is that 1.8 will include automation and this will lay the fundament for the tempo track.

Beatmaker 2 has got iaa added on the 24th of October according to version history but strangely when I have imini and bm2 running imini says 'no host app'. Strange.
