OT: is this technically possible? BeatHawk as an AU host to host itself?

I really like BeatHawk. The workflow is fast and intuitive and the sounds are top notch. I know we can host multiple instances of Beathawk as an AU in BM3 or Cubasis, but would it be technically possible, from a developers point of view, to make Beathawk an AU host so that it can host an AU instance of itself on each of its 16 pads? Furthermore, would this be more CPU efficient than hosting 16 instances of Beathawk as an AU in another AU host app?

  • afaik Beathawk can be hosted, but has no host functionality on it's own.
It wouldn't make much sense to extend it the way you think, as each sub-instance is independant and needs it's resources anyway while the supervising instance would require a completely different user interface.
(which is basically what you do if you insert into some other host)
Simple setup: with AUM and 4 channels of BH running just one track each, you could in fact have AUM record single tracks with dedicated fx processing live, instead of BH's own postprocessing mode via stems.
